Siemens is bringing its latest innovation in industrial robotics to the market: the Sinumerik Machine Tool Robot (MTR).

Siemens supplies 67 Inspiro driverless trains for Riyadh’s metro

The BACS consortium led by Bechtel, along with local construction companies Almabani and Consolidated Contractors Company, and in collaboration with Siemens Mobility, have successfully delivered Riyadh Metro’s 64-kilometer Blue Line (line 1) and Red Line (line 2), equipped with 67 Siemens Mobility Inspiro trains for fully automated, driverless operations.

This marks a significant achievement in the development of public transportation in the capital city, providing residents and visitors with a fast, safe, and eco-friendly mass transit system.

Siemens and Microsoft scale industrial AI

Siemens says it is “revolutionizing” industrial automation with Microsoft. Through their collaboration, they have taken the Siemens Industrial Copilot to “the next level”, enabling it to handle the most demanding environments at scale.

Combining Siemens’ unique domain know-how across industries with Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, the Copilot further improves handling of rigorous requirements in manufacturing and automation.

Siemens acquires Altair Engineering for $10 billion

Siemens has signed an agreement to acquire Altair Engineering, a provider of software in the industrial simulation and analysis market.

Altair shareholders will receive $113 per share, representing an enterprise value of approximately $10 billion.

Siemens to acquire industrial drive technology business of ebm-papst

German engineering Siemens has signed an agreement to acquire the industrial drive technology (IDT) business of ebm-papst.

The business, which employs around 650 people, includes intelligent, integrated mechatronic systems in the protective extra-low voltage range and innovative motion control systems. These systems are used in free-range driverless transport systems.

Siemens unveils its first virtual PLC and new automation products

Siemens has unveiled several new automation focused products, including its first virtual programmable logic controller, based on the functions and operation of the Simatic S7-1500 PLC and independent of its hardware.

The virtual PLC can be downloaded similar to an app and integrated directly into the IT environment, helping customers unlock the potential of digitalization.
