Dürr installs paint shop for ‘first’ Saudi automotive company

January 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Dürr is building an innovative and sustainable paint shop for CEER, the first Saudi automotive company and Saudi-born electric vehicle brand.

The order was placed back in 2023, and the project is currently in the installation phase. Automated guided vehicles will transport car bodies flexibly between stations based on demand in the modular system.

The latest application technology paints the interiors and exteriors of electric vehicles in the same box. In addition, there will be a box for fully automatic two-tone application without overspray. High-tech and sustainability go hand in hand.

Dürr supplies the latest generation of ovens which, combined with electric exhaust air purification systems, save energy and reduce CO2 emissions. The new facility will be one of the most advanced painting factories in the automotive world. [Read more…] about Dürr installs paint shop for ‘first’ Saudi automotive company

New US robot safety rules focus on how robots are actually used on the factory floor

January 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

A long-awaited update to US robot safety guidance is now complete, with the release of a new section that shifts attention from robot design to how industrial robots are used day to day.

The Association for Advancing Automation (A3) has announced the availability of Part 3 of the ANSI/A3 R15.06-2025 robot safety standard, rounding out a three-part framework that defines safety requirements for industrial robots and robot systems in the United States.

The newly released section focuses specifically on the use of industrial robot cells – an area that has historically received less formal guidance than robot design or system integration. [Read more…] about New US robot safety rules focus on how robots are actually used on the factory floor

PlusAI moves closer to public listing as autonomous truck merger clears key regulatory step

January 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Autonomous trucking software company Plus Automation has moved a step closer to becoming a publicly listed company after US regulators approved a key filing linked to its proposed merger with a special purpose acquisition company.

PlusAI said its registration statement connected to the planned business combination with Churchill Capital Corp IX was declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission on January 12, 2026.

The approval clears the way for Churchill Capital Corp IX to hold a shareholder vote on the deal. The company has scheduled an extraordinary general meeting for February 3, 2026, where investors will be asked to approve the merger and related matters. Exotec expands partnership with Renault at warehouse in Germany

January 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Exotec, a provider of warehouse robotics, is equipping Renault Deutschland, the France-headquartered car manufacturer, with its Skypod system to modernize its logistics capabilities at its Brühl site.

Starting in 2026, Renault plans to supply car dealers across Germany with spare parts for its models, using an automated warehouse in the country for the first time.

Following the successful deployment of Renault’s French site in Villeroy last year, the warehouse robotics specialist is now equipping Renault Group in Germany with its Skypod system within their new, 258,000 square foot automated warehouse. How Rigging Makes Ambitious Architectural Designs Buildable

January 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Architectural design has never been more daring. From dramatic cantilevers and sweeping glass façades to sculptural roofs and mixed-use megastructures, today’s buildings push materials and geometry to their limits.

What often goes unseen is the discipline that turns these bold ideas into physical reality. Rigging is the quiet enabler that bridges concept and construction, enabling architects and builders to move, position, and secure massive components with precision and control.

At its core, rigging is about managing gravity. Every ambitious design must contend with weight, balance, and force. A rendering may show a floating stair or an overhanging volume, but on site, that vision becomes steel, concrete, glass, and engineered timber. Autonomous vehicles: Regulation paving the way to public acceptance

January 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Why law, governance and trust matter as much as technology

Autonomous vehicles are often presented as a technical inevitability. Sensors improve, software advances, compute power grows, and the vehicles themselves become steadily more capable.

Yet despite decades of development and thousands of pilot programmes, autonomous vehicles remain rare on public roads.

The reason is not a lack of technology. It is a lack of permission. [Read more…] about Autonomous vehicles: Regulation paving the way to public acceptance

Multiply Labs partners with Nvidia to bring physical AI robotics to advanced biomanufacturing

January 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Multiply Labs, a specialist in robotic biomanufacturing, has announced what it describes as a “landmark milestone” in its mission to scale production of cell and gene therapies.

The company is now leveraging Nvidia’s open Isaac and GR00T technologies, including advanced robotics simulation and perception, marking a turning point for an industry that has historically relied on manual, “artisanal” processes.

Cell and gene therapies are life-changing treatments that hold the potential to address cancer and autoimmune diseases, but manufacturing remains difficult to scale with time-intensive processes and variability that can impact throughput and cost. What to Retire During a Migration Instead of Just Moving Everything

January 29, 2026 by Sam Francis

Most migrations fail in a boring way: everything gets copied, nothing gets better, and the bill shows up fast. Moving every app, database, report, and script feels “safe” because nothing changes. However, it also drags along old bugs, forgotten access, and years of clutter that no one needs.

A smarter plan treats the move as a cleanout. That is where Azure migration services can pay off beyond new servers, because the best savings often come from systems that never leave the old rack. Therefore, the goal is not just “cloud,” but less noise, fewer moving parts, and clearer ownership. [Read more…] about What to Retire During a Migration Instead of Just Moving Everything
