Q-CTRL and RIKEN boost hybrid quantum-classical computing with Fire Opal integration

Q‑CTRL, a specialist in quantum infrastructure software, and RIKEN, a national research institute in Japan, have announced the integration of Q-CTRL’s performance management software Fire Opal with RIKEN’s IBM Quantum System Two.

The system is deployed within the RIKEN Center for Computational Science, Japan’s Premier High-Performance Computing (JHPC) center, and co-located with Japan’s flagship supercomputer Fugaku.

The integration is part of a project commissioned by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), an organization under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Einride to go public through SPAC with Legato at $1.8 billion valuation, targeting NYSE listing

Einride, the Sweden-founded developer of digital, electric and autonomous freight technology, plans to go public through a business combination with Legato Merger Corp. III (NYSEAMERICAN: LEGT), valuing the company at $1.8 billion and aiming for a New York Stock Exchange listing in the first half of 2026, according to the companies.

A spokesperson for Einride said: “Today, Einride, a leading technology company specializing in autonomous and electric freight operations, and Legato Merger Corp., a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), announced their plans to go public through a SPAC deal and a $1.8 billion valuation, and be listed on NYSE.”

Sekikaiji to introduce new trencher purchased from subsea technology specialist SMD

Japan-based submarine cable installation specialist, Sekikaiji Industry, has expanded its capabilities with the purchase of new trenching equipment from subsea technology and services provider, SMD.

Set to be delivered in spring 2026, the contract includes SMD’s high-power jet trencher with a dedicated high sea state launch and recovery system (LARS) and SMD Artemis, a pioneering cable and pipeline tracker.

HBK launches new robotic touch system with custom 6-DoF sensors

Winners of AgiBot World Challenge at IROS 2025

The AgiBot World Challenge at IROS 2025 concluded with 431 robotics teams from 23 countries competing across two major categories – the World Model Track and the Manipulation Track – showcasing advances in embodied AI and real-world robotic skills.

In the World Model Track, first place went to VIPL-GENUN from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. HD-Robo from HiDream.ai Inc. took second place, followed by SHIELD-LMD, a joint team representing Alibaba Cloud, SHIELD, and Shanghai TAM, in third.

In the Manipulation Track, AIR-DREAM, a joint entry by Tsinghua University and Shanghai AI Lab, won first place. Notonlysim from South China University of Technology and Firebot from the University of Hong Kong ranked second and third respectively.
