ABB to showcase robotic innovations at Pack Expo

ABB is set to showcase the company’s latest robotic innovations that help packagers manage high mix, low volume production at Pack Expo Las Vegas.

ABB will be in the Central Hall, at booth C-2051, where it will showcase several major new technological innovations.

The company says the innovations will provide the engineering and commissioning efficiency to package more products on the same lines, switch between products with minimal downtime, and quickly ramp up to full-production speed for new products.

ROEQ launches ‘world’s most precise’ docking station for Mobile Industrial Robots

ROEQ claims to have launched the “world’s most precise docking station for Mobile Industrial Robots”. 

The new docking station’s ± 1mm repeatability ensures precise delivery of products and pallets carried by the autonomous mobile robots from Mobile Industrial Robots equipped with ROEQ’s cart solution.

The company unveiled its new product at Pack Expo, which is also the first chance to see ROEQ’s new TR1000 Top Roller live – a unique new conveyor top module for MiR1000, the largest model from Mobile Industrial Robots with up to 1,000 kilo payloads. Simbe Robotics raises $26 million in Series A funding round

Simbe Robotics, which specializes in robotics and artificial intelligence for retail, has completed two separate funding deals.

One was a Series A equity financing round, and the other was an inventory financing agreement with SoftBank Robotics.

OnRobot launches ‘one-system’ solution to make industrial robotic arms more compatible

OnRobot has launched a “one-system” solution which it says makes robots more compatible by enabling their end-effectors to be quickly attached to a variety of brands of robotic arms.

The company says the new unified mechanical and electrical interface for any OnRobot end-of-arm tooling (EoAT) “dramatically simplifies” automation with a single platform for a full range of collaborative and light industrial robotic systems.

Element Logic to deliver ‘world’s largest’ AutoStore installation at Prime Cargo warehouse

Element Logic, a warehouse automation provider which has developed a robotic piece-picking system, is to deliver what is claimed to be “the world’s largest AutoStore installation within third-party logistics” for Prime Cargo.

E-logistics company Prime Cargo says investing in the huge robot warehouse from AutoStore will “ensure faster deliveries”.

OnRobot says it has launched a new tooling system for “full range” of smaller robots.

The company says its new Digital I/O Converter Kit and Quick Changer for OnRobot end-of-arm tooling (EoAT) “dramatically simplifies” automation because it provides a single platform for a full range of collaborative and light industrial robotic systems

Hyundai unveils wearable exoskeleton as part of a range of robotics developments

Hyundai Motor Group is developing a range of robotics technologies which the company says it will roll out over the next year or two. 

Hyundai has developed a new “Vest EXoskeleton” (VEX), a wearable robot created to assist industrial workers who spend long hours working in overhead environments.

Universal Robots ‘maintains top spot’ in collaborative robot market

Universal Robots is maintaining its top spot in the collaborative robot market, according to a report by ABI Research.

However, competitors including Doosan, Techman Robot and Precise Automation are “closing in“, says the study, Industrial Collaborative Robots Competitive Assessment.

Researchers develop robot fingertips for grasping and releasing objects in dry and wet conditions

A team of researchers at Kanazawa University has developed a robot control system – or fingertips – for grasping and releasing objects in dry and wet conditions.

The researchers say that the study was able to verify that “object grasping by soft surface fluid fingertips with high friction was controllable by applying a suitable lubricant”.
