IMI Norgren launches online configurator for choosing actuators

A new online application configuration tool, which allows engineers to specify their required actuator easily and quickly, has been launched by IMI Precision Engineering. 

The traditional manual specification of electric actuators often prove a “time consuming and complex task” for engineers, says IMI.

The new configurator, which compliments the IMI Norgren Elion Electrical Actuation Rodstyle and Rodless range, has become an “essential tool”, simplifying the process and allowing users to benefit from a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ensure they select the most efficient and accurate actuator, says the company. Amazon now has 200,000 robots working in its warehouses

Online retail giant Amazon now has 200,000 robots in operation within its warehouses in the US, according to a report published by Associated Press.

The article, written by Matt O’Brien, doesn’t say where it got the figure, but it could be inferred from the rest of the article that it was provided by Amazon itself.

Walmart integrates Alphabot into its warehouse operations

Retail giant Walmart has integrated a warehouse automation system, Alphabot, into its operations after undertaking tests for almost a year. (See video below.)

Alphabot, technically an automated storage and retrieval system, was especially developed for Walmart by startup company Alert Innovation.

Zebra Technologies unveils new robot for retail operations

Zebra Technologies has introduced SmartSight, a robot for mass merchants, grocers, and supermarkets and hypermarkets.

The company is showcasing the new machine at NRF 2020, the retail technology show currently being held in Chicago, USA.

SmartSight leverages the computer vision, machine learning, workflow automation and robotic capabilities of Zebra’s EMA50 enterprise mobile automation system to accurately identify out-of-stock conditions, pricing inconsistencies and planogram issues on the shelf. Intralogistics giant Dematic has launched its new micro-fulfilment solution, and has immediately found a large-scale customer.

Dematic says its new micro-fulfilment solution is designed to “help retailers across industries address increased consumer demand for rapid online order fulfilment in a small footprint”.

Element Logic to deliver ‘world’s largest’ AutoStore installation at Prime Cargo warehouse

Element Logic, a warehouse automation provider which has developed a robotic piece-picking system, is to deliver what is claimed to be “the world’s largest AutoStore installation within third-party logistics” for Prime Cargo.

E-logistics company Prime Cargo says investing in the huge robot warehouse from AutoStore will “ensure faster deliveries”.

Cleveron wins deal with Latin American retail giant Falabella Retail

Estonian click and collect company Cleveron has begun working with Chile-based Falabella Retail, part of Falabella Group, which is the third largest company in Latin America.

Falabella Retail has installed the Cleveron 402 parcel robot, which dispenses online purchases in shops, in the Los Dominicos Shopping Centre in Chile’s capital city Santiago.

Customers make their purchases online, choose in-store delivery and later receive their parcels from the robot using the order code. Cleveron 402 is also used by the fashion retailer Zara.
