Tips for Designing Timeless User Interfaces for a Medical Device

December 13, 2023 by Mark Allinson

User interface design trends might come and go throughout the lengthy design and development phase of a medical device. This implies that keeping up with or predicting user interface (UI) design trends may be difficult.

Furthermore, a user interface with a “dated” design is not just a possible danger to the product’s market image; it may also have ramifications for use.

An interface that does not seem up-to-date, for example, may make a user go for your competitor and choose a different product. [Read more…] about Tips for Designing Timeless User Interfaces for a Medical Device

SICK launches new sensor for ‘accurate leak detection with one device’

May 13, 2020 by David Edwards

SICK has launched a new sensor that it says enables “accurate leak detection with one device”.

Energy efficiency and transparency are playing an increasingly important role in the manufacturing world.

To help improve energy management, SICK has developed the FTMg, a multifunctional thermal flowmeter sensor for the detection of gas flow, temperature, and process pressure. [Read more…] about SICK launches new sensor for ‘accurate leak detection with one device’

NXP launches new ‘multi-gigabit’ automotive Ethernet switch for time-sensitive networking

February 3, 2020 by David Edwards

NXP, one of the world’s largest suppliers of automotive semiconductors, has launched a “multi-gigabit Ethernet switch” designed to help automakers deliver the high-speed networks required for evolving connected vehicles.

NXP says its SJA1110 is “the first automotive Ethernet switch with safety capabilities built in”, offering integrated 100BASE-T1 PHYs, hardware-assisted security as well as multi-gigabit interfaces.

Optimized for integration with NXP’s S32G vehicle network processor, the SJA1110 switch is also part of an overall networking solution which includes the VR5510 power management integrated circuit. Denso partners with Qualcomm to develop ‘next-generation’ vehicle dashboards

January 13, 2020 by Mai Tao

Automotive systems maker Denso is partnering with chipmaker Qualcomm to develop what they call “next-generation cockpit systems”.

Though they use the word “cockpit”, they probably mean vehicle dashboards rather than aircraft cockpits.

In recent years, the amount of information provided by a vehicle to the driver has increased due to advanced driver assistance functions using cameras and sensors, as well as various entertainment functions.
