Tesollo targets US market with new ‘multi-joint robotic hand lineup’

January 20, 2025 by David Edwards

South Korean robotic gripper specialist Tesollo says it will target the US market with its multi-joint robotic hand lineup, part of the Delto Gripper series.

The company showcased its technology at the recent CES event, the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition. The demonstrations included its humanoid robotic hand, DG-5F (Delto Gripper 5-Finger).

With a hand span of approximately 20 cm, comparable to an adult male’s hand, the DG-5F features 20 degrees of freedom (DoF), enabling it to closely mimic human hand movements. Equipped with human-level dexterity, it represents a major step in robotic manipulation. [Read more…] about Tesollo targets US market with new ‘multi-joint robotic hand lineup’

Cyngn supplies its autonomous tugger to Coats Company facility

January 20, 2025 by David Edwards

Cyngn has initiated a production implementation with Coats Company, the largest full-line wheel service equipment manufacturer in North America.

The installation of Cyngn’s DriveMod Tugger – a self-driving industrial vehicle that can haul goods indoors and outdoors – is under way at Coats’ 150,000+ square foot manufacturing facility in La Vergne, Tennessee.

This deployment will leverage Cyngn’s previously launched next-generation DriveMod Tugger, which features an increased towing capacity from 6,000 lbs to 12,000 lbs. [Read more…] about Cyngn supplies its autonomous tugger to Coats Company facility

ABB to unveil future technologies at Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening conference

January 20, 2025 by David Edwards

ABB Robotics will return for a second year to the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) 2025 International Conference & Exhibition, January 25-29 at the San Diego Convention Center (Booth #2541).

Highlights of ABB’s participation include two live robotic automation demos and a roundtable discussion with industry leaders, including Mettler Toledo and Agilent Technologies, to explore the challenges laboratories face and how robotics can help, on January 28.

Jose-Manuel Collados, manager for product line service robotics at ABB Robotics, says: “The need for increased efficiency, enhanced precision, reduced human error, and the ability to handle high-throughput workflows is prompting more organizations to consider automated laboratory solutions, with demand estimated to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 6.9 percent by 2029. Segway’s Navimow robotic lawn mower range wins seven awards at CES

January 20, 2025 by David Edwards

Segway Navimow, the robotic lawn mower arm of Segway, received seven awards at CES 2025 − hosted in Las Vegas at the start of this month – for its lineup of robotic lawn mowers. Showcasing a portfolio comprised of the X3 Series, i Series and H Series, the successes highlight the brand’s position at the forefront of automated lawncare.

The X3 Series, which will launch in Spring this year, is designed to maintain up to 2.5-acre (10,000 sq m) lawns with unparalleled efficiency by leveraging a self-developed EFLS 3.0 -enhanced RTK coverage system, vSLAM (Visual Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping), and VIO (Visual Inertial Odometry) technologies.

The machine received three awards at the show, including acknowledgements in the following categories: Geekspin’s ‘Best of CES 2025’, The Ambient’s “Best in Show” and ZDNet’s “Best Robot Lawn Mower at CES 2025”. [Read more…] about Segway’s Navimow robotic lawn mower range wins seven awards at CES

Top 10 robotic insects: Can robotic bees save all plant life on Earth?

January 16, 2025 by David Edwards

As someone who eats honey on toast almost every day, I’ve been quite interested over the past few years by stories about the supposed collapse of the global bee population.

Bees not only produce honey, they are, of course, nature’s great pollinators. Although not the only pollinators around, they’re the only ones who produce honey, as far as I know.

So, I thought I’d delve into this topic a little bit, in light of various academic institutions and companies developing tiny flying robots or drones that could potentially do the job of natural pollinators. [Read more…] about Top 10 robotic insects: Can robotic bees save all plant life on Earth?

MIT reveals bug-sized flying robot that could help pollinate plants

January 16, 2025 by David Edwards

By Adam Zewe, MIT News

With a more efficient method for artificial pollination, farmers in the future could grow fruits and vegetables inside multilevel warehouses, boosting yields while mitigating some of agriculture’s harmful impacts on the environment.

To help make this idea a reality, MIT researchers are developing robotic insects that could someday swarm out of mechanical hives to rapidly perform precise pollination. However, even the best bug-sized robots are no match for natural pollinators like bees when it comes to endurance, speed, and maneuverability.

Now, inspired by the anatomy of these natural pollinators, the researchers have overhauled their design to produce tiny, aerial robots that are far more agile and durable than prior versions. [Read more…] about MIT reveals bug-sized flying robot that could help pollinate plants
