NXP and Nvidia collaborate on edge computing platform for humanoid robots

March 17, 2026 by Sam Francis

NXP Semiconductors has announced innovative robotics solutions for reliable, secure, real-time data processing and transport and advanced networking, enabling sensor fusion, machine vision and precision motor control.

First in a series of NXP’s foundational robotics solutions, these ready-to-deploy solutions were developed in collaboration with Nvidia and implement Nvidia Holoscan Sensor Bridge with NXP’s highly integrated SoCs.

This reduces discrete components, significantly shrinking footprint, power and cost, while also simplifying the software complexity of robotic sensing and actuation, including humanoid form factors. [Read more…] about NXP and Nvidia collaborate on edge computing platform for humanoid robots

The uncanny valley and how humans relate to humanoids

March 16, 2026 by Sam Francis

Exploring the psychological aspects of designing and interacting with human-like robots

Humanoid robots are moving steadily from laboratories and research demos toward commercial deployment. Machines built by companies such as Tesla, Figure AI, Agility Robotics, and Boston Dynamics are increasingly designed to operate in environments originally built for humans – factories, warehouses, hospitals, and homes.

But as robots begin to resemble people more closely, another question re-emerges – one that engineers, psychologists, and filmmakers have been grappling with for decades. [Read more…] about The uncanny valley and how humans relate to humanoids

Why Your SaaS Needs Email Automation That Feels Human

March 13, 2026 by Sam Francis

Building a software company is a marathon of solving problems. You’ll spend months or years perfecting a product that makes life easier for your users. But, honestly, even the best software in the world can feel a little cold if the only time a customer hears from you is when their credit card fails or a server goes down.

We all know that growth depends on engagement. If people don’t use the tool, they don’t see the value. If they don’t see the value, they’re going to leave. And that’s a tough pill to swallow after all that work.

Email is still the most direct line we have to our users. It’s the digital equivalent of a tap on the shoulder. [Read more…] about Why Your SaaS Needs Email Automation That Feels Human

Robbyant open-sources LingBot-VLA model as a ‘universal brain’ for robots

March 13, 2026 by Sam Francis

Robbyant, an embodied AI company within Alibaba affiliate Ant Group, has announced the open-source release of LingBot-VLA, a vision-language-action (VLA) model designed to serve as a “universal brain” for real-world robotics, which “helps reduce post-training costs and accelerate the path to scalable deployment”, according to the company.

So far, LingBot-VLA has been successfully adapted to robots from leading manufacturers, including Galaxea Dynamics and AgileX Robotics, demonstrating strong cross-morphology transfer capabilities across diverse robot platforms.

The model’s performance was evaluated on the GM-100 benchmark, a comprehensive evaluation suite open-sourced by Shanghai Jiao Tong University that comprises 100 real-world tasks. [Read more…] about Robbyant open-sources LingBot-VLA model as a ‘universal brain’ for robots

Challenges in bipedal locomotion, dexterous manipulation and power efficiency

March 12, 2026 by David Edwards

A look at the key technical hurdles in creating truly functional humanoid robots

Humanoid robots have returned to the center of the robotics conversation. After decades as largely experimental machines confined to laboratories and research demonstrations, they are now attracting serious investment and industrial interest.

Companies such as Tesla, Figure AI, Agility Robotics, and Boston Dynamics are developing humanoid platforms intended not simply as research prototypes but as commercial products capable of working in warehouses, factories, and other industrial environments.

The appeal of humanoid robots is easy to understand. Much of the world’s infrastructure – from doorways and staircases to tools and shelving systems – has been designed for the human body. A robot with roughly human proportions could theoretically operate in those environments without requiring extensive redesign of the workplace. Ai2 claims breakthrough in training robots entirely in simulation

March 12, 2026 by David Edwards

The Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Ai2) says it has achieved a milestone in robotics by demonstrating that robots trained entirely in simulation can perform tasks in the real world without additional training or real-world demonstrations.

The result challenges a long-held assumption in robotics that systems trained in virtual environments must still be fine-tuned with physical robot data before they can operate reliably in real environments.

According to Ai2, its researchers showed that sufficiently large and diverse simulated training environments can produce robot control models capable of transferring directly to real machines – a concept known as “zero-shot sim-to-real transfer”.
