Rivet nuts: A versatile fastening solution for automotive and manufacturing applications

March 21, 2025 by David Edwards

When it comes to securing materials in automotive and manufacturing settings, rivet nuts provide a reliable and efficient solution.

Also known as blind rivet nuts, these fasteners allow for strong, durable connections even in materials that are too thin for conventional threading. Their ability to be installed from one side of the material makes them an ideal choice for applications where access to the reverse side is restricted. ‘Connected, smart factories are crucial’ to automotive manufacturing in the future, says ABB

March 21, 2025 by David Edwards

ABB Robotics’ third Automotive Manufacturing Outlook Survey, in partnership with Automotive Manufacturing Solutions magazine, has highlighted how moving to the “smart factory” is viewed as a critical next step by global manufacturers and major suppliers.

A smart factory is generally understood to be a highly digitized and connected manufacturing facility that uses interconnected systems, machinery, and data to improve production processes and enable better decision-making, as well as greater flexibility or change of use to make different products.

Joerg Reger, managing director of ABB Robotics automotive business line, says: “Automotive manufacturers are acutely aware that advanced robotics, Artificial Intelligence and digital twinning technology are positive drivers of change.
