Epson signs Gibson Engineering as distributor in US Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions

Epson Robots has signed Gibson Engineering, a solutions provider for manufacturers of industrial automation products, as an official distributor of Epson Robots automation solutions.

Gibson Engineering has a diverse customer base in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, from life sciences and plastics manufacturers to OEM machine builders.

As the sense of urgency for manufacturing projects in these industries accelerates, this new partnership offers Gibson Engineering customers access to Epson’s fully stacked product lineup to simplify automation installs while meeting project time frames. Panasonic Robot and Welding expands collaboration with Claas Saulgau

Panasonic Robot and Welding System Solutions, a business unit of Panasonic Factory Solutions, and Claas Saulgau GmbH, a producer of agricultural machinery with over 100 years of experience, say they have “intensified” their existing collaboration.

Claas Saugau is extending its production facilities with three new welding systems with a total of five Panasonic welding robots of the latest generation and technology.

Omron invests in collaborative robot company Techman Robot

Industrial giant Omron has reached an agreement for a capital investment in Techman Robot, believed to be the world’s second-largest collaborative robot brand.

Omron will hold a stake of approximately 10 percent in Techman. The investment is expected to be completed by December 2021.

OnRobot launches WebLytics software solution for collaborative applications

OnRobot, a maker of end-of-arm tools for industrial robots, is making its software debut with the launch of WebLytics, which the company describes as “a unique production monitoring, device diagnostics, and data analytics solution designed to enhance productivity and minimize downtime”.

Capable of monitoring the performance of multiple collaborative applications simultaneously and in real-time, WebLytics gathers equipment data from both robots and tools and transforms it into easy-to-understand, visualized device and application-level intelligence.

ABB launches FlexLoader M range to ‘bring the power of modularity to machine tending’

ABB has launched a new range of modular machine tending application cells for the metals industry aimed at maximizing flexibility and machine utilization while minimizing lost productivity caused by unforeseen production stoppages.

Featuring six different versions, the FlexLoader M family offers a variety of ways of loading and unloading machines based on the size, shapes and amount of the workpieces being handled, making it ideal for applications such as foundries and die casting operations producing multiple types of products in varying quantities.

Andrea Cassoni, managing director for business line general industry for ABB Robotics, says: “As customers demand greater variety and shorter delivery times, metals producers need to have a manufacturing process that can respond quickly and offer the flexibility to achieve high mix, low volume and batch size one production. ATI unveils ‘ultra-thin’ force torque sensor for robots

ATI Industrial Automation has unveiled its “ultra-thin” Mini43LP Force/Torque Sensor, which the company says provides “high-precision force sensing in a rugged, yet compact transducer”.

At less than 8 mm tall, the newest member of ATI’s force/torque sensor product range is “uniquely suited for smaller automated applications”, says ATI.

Dexterity raises $140 million in new funding

Dexterity, the creators of intelligent robotic systems for logistics, warehouses, and supply chain, has raised an additional $140 million in Series B equity funding and debt.

Major existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Kleiner Perkins greatly expanded their commitment to Dexterity by leading the Series B, with additional participation from Obvious Ventures, B37 Ventures and Presidio Ventures. Dexterity will use the new capital to support the growth of the company as its first thousand robots are deployed into production.
