Leveraging IoT Technology for Successful Healthcare

April 25, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Leveraging IoT Technology for Successful Obesity Management

Obesity is a global health challenge that affects millions of people and is associated with a range of chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer.

Though healthy eating habits and physical activity remain the cornerstone of obesity management, advances in technology are expanding our ability to manage and prevent this condition.

With the help of IoT and wearables, individuals can now monitor their health metrics such as heart rate, blood sugar levels, and physical activity. [Read more…] about Leveraging IoT Technology for Successful Healthcare

Wyzo sidebot combines with Piab’s ‘extremely lightweight’ mini gripper

May 30, 2022 by David Edwards

Handling food or other small, lightweight products quickly and easily with human-machine interaction – that’s exactly what the Wyzo sidebot is designed to do.

With a maximum payload of one kilogram, the weight of the gripper is critical. So, what could be a better fit than Piab’s featherweight, the MCG, at just 270 grams, which also has “versatility and outstanding energy efficiency”.

Process automation continues to advance in the food, packaging, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and electronics industries. People in these sectors often work side by side with machines. [Read more…] about Wyzo sidebot combines with Piab’s ‘extremely lightweight’ mini gripper

Brenton Engineering showcases new end of arm tool for pallet work

August 9, 2021 by David Edwards

Brenton Engineering has redesigned its MP1000 Robotic Bulk Palletizing / Depalletizing End of Arm Tool.

The company says the new device can pick up full layers of product at one time, making it a great time-saving solution for a variety of industries, including plastic container manufacturers.

The MP1000 provides consistent tight layer grids of palletized and depalletized product through cradle and place technology that combines a servo-operated rotary tool and slat system to gently handle full layers of product weighing up to 500 pounds with each motion. OnRobot releases ‘world’s most powerful’ electric vacuum gripper for robot arms

February 25, 2021 by David Edwards

OnRobot has released what it describes as the “world’s most powerful” electric vacuum gripper for robot arms.

OnRobot says its new VGP20 electric vacuum gripper provides a powerful and versatile solution for challenging palletising scenarios including heavy, bulky and porous surfaces.

Large, unwieldy bags of dog food, non-airtight clothing or consumer goods packages, and bulky, porous cardboard boxes. These are just some examples of demanding packaging and palletising applications that OnRobot’s new VGP20 gripper can address. 9,000 elephants: Heaviest things ever moved on land

June 1, 2020 by Polly

People travel all over the globe to see the many great wonders of our world, but does it ever cross your mind of how they got there in the first place?

Transporting impossibly large items has been a mechanical and logistical challenge for thousands of years, becoming even more tricky when shifting things overseas with ships.

Famous sites such as the Statue of Liberty were disassembled in Paris and then packed into 214 wooden crates and shipped across the Atlantic in 1885. [Read more…] about 9,000 elephants: Heaviest things ever moved on land

Automatic Passenger Counters for Improving Public Transport

May 6, 2020 by Polly

Fleet companies that operate cabs, buses, and coaches and companies that manage public trains and trams need to keep data on the number of passengers boarding and alighting for accountability. Earlier, manual counting was the only way to record such data.

But today, technology has really changed how things are done. These public transport vehicles are fitted with automatic passenger counting (APC) devices that will actually transmit the tally in real time to a remote location.

The availability of such technology is a big invention in the public transport sector that has brought numerous positive changes. Let us dive deeper into how the sector has changed through using APC devices. [Read more…] about Automatic Passenger Counters for Improving Public Transport
