Skyports receives design approval for first commercial vertiport in the UAE

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has granted technical design approval for the first commercial vertiport in the United Arab Emirates.

This significant milestone enables Skyports Infrastructure to continue with the development of its DXV facility, where commercial air taxi operations are scheduled to begin from 2026.

The Dubai International Vertiport (DXV), named for its location near Dubai International Airport (DXB), is the first facility to receive design approval under the newly established UAE Vertiport Regulations. HummingbirdEV to open microfactory for its zero-emission commercial vehicles in UAE

HummingbirdEV, a global provider of advanced commercial vehicle electrification systems, announced today it will establish a new advanced microfactory facility in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The facility will produce HummingbirdEV’s zero-emission commercial vehicles to accelerate adoption of sustainable transportation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Southeast Asia, and India.

HummingbirdEV’s presence in the UAE will enable the company to deliver zero-emission commercial vehicles for an existing e-commerce customer and leverage the country’s free trade agreements with Southeast Asia, India and surrounding MENA markets for further expansion of its customer base. UAE creates ‘world’s first and only’ enterprise zone for digital and virtual asset companies

One of the emirate of the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah, has established a Digital Assets Oasis (RAK DAO), claimed to be “the world’s first and only common law Free Zone dedicated to digital and virtual asset companies”, has celebrated the “resounding success” of its launch with a grand event to mark the start of a new era of Web3 collaboration in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The event, held October 19th, 2023 at the prestigious Al Hamra International Exhibition and Convention Center, brought together visionaries, influential figures, and government dignitaries to reflect on the future of digital assets and Web3 technologies.

Uniting over 850 attendees, 40 speakers from around the world, and 11 exhibitors, the event brought together international experts, and key leaders with a shared vision for the future of web3 and emerging technologies. iFarm launches first vertical farm in the UAE

iFarm, a vertical farming technologies provider, announced the launch of the first vertical farm in the UAE to use iFarm technologies.

Located in Dubai, the farm will produce “ultra-fresh” produce such as leafy greens, microgreens, herbs and edible flowers. Its initial target markets are premium retail and hotel, restaurant, catering sectors.

Located just a 30-minute drive from the heart of Dubai, the vertical farm covers a growing area of 712 sq m and is expected to yield around 3 tonnes of high-quality produce per month. Robosculptor develops advanced robotic system for massage

A startup company called Robosculptor has developed an advanced robotic system that can be used for healthcare purposes such as surgery and massage.

The company is initially concentrating on what might be described as the leisure side of health – massage therapy – and has been showing off the system in the United Arab Emirates, where there are countless hotels and tourist resorts which may become customers.

Einride and UAE to introduce Middle East’s largest autonomous and electric fleet

Einride, a freight mobility company that provides digital, electric and autonomous technology, is launching a collaboration with the UAE Government to “fast track the region to sustainable shipping”.

The signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will look to deploy Einride’s ecosystem, including electric and autonomous vehicles, charging infrastructure and transforming technology that unlocks digital, electric and autonomous solutions at scale throughout the Falcon Rise grid.

Residents in the United Arab Emirates may soon receive parcels delivered by drones and robots

Aramex, a global provider of logistics and transportation solutions, says it has completed the testing of its drone and roadside robot deliveries in Dubai, one of the seven emirates in the UAE.

This is part of the company’s “Future Delivery Program” aimed at enhancing last-mile logistics using smart shipping solutions to enable quicker, more sustainable, and cost-effective deliveries.

The initial tests were conducted at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in partnership with BARQ EV, a leading commercial drone delivery service provider in the UAE, and Kiwibot, a Colombia-based company specializing in delivery robotics. SoftBank appoints new partner to resell Pepper humanoid robots

SoftBank Robotics Europe has appointed Jacky’s Business Solutions as its first reseller in the UAE for its Pepper robot.

Pepper is the first humanoid robot created to interact with humans. It is equipped with features and a high-level interface for proactively communicating with those around it, using the latest advances in voice and face recognition.
