February 21, 2019 by Anna

The Paris business district of  La Defense will become home to a spectacular new skyscraper, featuring thyssenkrupp’s TWIN lifts with two cabins instead of just one moving in the same shaft.

thyssenkrupp Elevator will deliver 12 TWIN lift systems, a technology that increases transport capacity and improves energy efficiency.

Applying the TWIN frees up floor space, as this technology transports more people without increasing the number of elevator shafts. The new tower will also include another twelve conventional elevators and escalators.

ThyssenKrupp equips United Tower in Bahrain with lifts and escalators

February 4, 2019 by Anna

The builders of the United Tower in Bahrain have completed the installation of 16 lifts and two escalators in the country’s sixth tallest building.

With its unique twisted shape, the United Tower is conceived as a building with multiple uses – a vertical spiral city where people live, work, and relax. The particular characteristic of the United Tower is a 360-degree unobstructed view of Manama.

The United Tower is located in Bahrain Bay on the north-eastern shore of Bahrain’s capital city Manama in a mixed neighbourhood of residential, commercial and retail spaces.

ThyssenKrupp takes step towards CO2-free steel production

January 23, 2019 by Anna

Carbon2Chem is off to a good start in the new year. For the first time, thyssenkrupp has produced ammonia from steel mill gases. Ammonia is a chemical used to make fertilisers to improve food production.

Steel mill gases come from steel production and contain, among other things, CO2. It is the first time in the world that steel mill gases, including the CO2 they contain, have been converted into ammonia.

It represents a further milestone in the Carbon2Chem project, which is being funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to the tune of around 60 million euros.

ThyssenKrupp agrees big contract to maintain automated movement at Stockholm’s spectacular metro stations

September 11, 2018 by Sam Francis

Elevators, escalators and moving walkways are so ubiquitous in urban environments – at metro stations, airports and other places – that most people probably hardly notice them and perhaps take them for granted.

Not everyone, however: some of us still actually feel a sense of enjoyment at having their strolls through transport hubs aided by these automated systems, even if it’s part of a daily commute to work.

It’s probably fair to say, however, that these automation systems are less complex than ones which involve movement in less straightforward, distraction-filled environments – like, say, those involving an autonomous car.  [Read more…] about ThyssenKrupp agrees big contract to maintain automated movement at Stockholm’s spectacular metro stations
