Teradyne completes acquisition of AutoGuide Mobile Robots

Teradyne has completed the acquisition of AutoGuide Mobile Robots, a leading supplier of high payload autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).

AutoGuide’s advanced products deliver easy deployment, improved safety, reduced costs and increased efficiency of industrial and warehouse material-handling operations.

Teradyne doubles down on mobile robots with AutoGuide acquisition

Teradyne this week announced that it would be acquiring mobile robot vendor AutoGuide Mobile Robots for $165 million.

This announcement comes 18 months after it acquired autonomous mobile robot vendor Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) for $148 million, illustrating its ambitions in the sector.

Teradyne to acquire AutoGuide Mobile Robots for $165 million

Teradyne is again strengthening its position in the robotics and automation market with another acquisition after already buying Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots. 

Teradyne and AutoGuide Mobile Robots have entered into a definitive agreement under which Teradyne will acquire privately held AutoGuide for $165 million – $58 million net of cash acquired plus $107 million if certain performance targets are met extending potentially through 2022.

Teradyne extends memory test capabilities with new Magnum VU test system

Teradyne, Inc. has announced the new Universal Protocol Board (UPBx), a module for its Magnum VU memory test system that enables testing of high-speed memory devices, popular in cutting edge mobile phones and tablets.

As mobile devices offer higher resolution video, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) applications, they are adopting higher speed NAND storage based on the Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 3.0.

UFS 3.0 devices feature interface speeds up to 16Gbps per lane for real-time application performance such as faster boost, faster multimedia and higher gaming performance.

Teradyne ships its 4,000th ‘Eagle’ semiconductor test system to MPS

Teradyne says it has shipped its 4,000th Eagle Test System, hitting a new sales success milestone for its Eagle Test System automatic test equipment in China.

MPS, a high-growth, linear, power and automotive semiconductor supplier with multiple locations in China, purchased the milestone system, an ETS-88.

The ETS-88 is an optimal platform for testing a wide variety of devices including simple analog, high precision, high voltage, high current / power, automotive, video, audio, complex mixed-signal, as well as emerging power processes like SiC and GaN. Teradyne and Silan collaborate on testing automotive and high power electronics

Teradyne, Inc., a leading supplier of automated test solutions, has announced, with Silan Microelectronics, the release of the new Silan Intelligent Power Module (IPM) test cell for automotive and high power devices. The IPM test cell is supported by Teradyne’s ETS-88TH Power Discrete tester.

The synergy will allow customers to grow on one test platform as product requirements change, while supporting both industry leading quality of test and throughput.

Xinwei NI, assistant production director and chip testing department manager at Silan said: “With the modularity of the ETS-88TH, our customers will have access to standard or custom solutions for their automotive and high power devices.”

Teradyne acquires Lemsys SA

Teradyne, Inc.has acquired the privately held Lemsys of Geneva, Switzerland. The 21-person company will remain in Geneva with current management and staffing.

Lemsys is a leading global provider of test equipment for the high power semiconductor industry, serving the emerging and growing power discrete device and module market aligned to electric vehicles, wind and solar power generation, and high power industrial applications.

“Lemsys is the market leader in the emerging high power discrete segment of the semiconductor test market and we are very excited to have Lemsys join Teradyne,” said Greg Smith, President of Teradyne’s Semiconductor Test Division.

Teradyne becomes leading power in collaborative robotics. Now owns MiR and Universal Robots

US industrial giant Teradyne has become a powerful force in the collaborative robotics sector with the purchase of Mobile Industrial Robots, the maker of warehouse robots.

The new acquisition adds to Teradyne’s existing purchase of Universal Robots, which is the leading supplier of collaborative industrial robotic arms. Teradyne, which specialises in supplying automatic test equipment, generated approxmately $2.2 billion revenue in 2017.

Teradyne announced the acquisition of privately held MiR of Odense, Denmark for €121 million ($148 million) net of cash acquired plus €101 million ($124 million at current exchange rate) if certain performance targets are met extending through 2020. Systems design: Teradyne standardizes simulation tasks using Cadence technology

Teradyne, the industrial giant which owns Universal Robots, has standardized its simulation tasks using technology from Cadence Design Systems.

Teradyne’s standardization uses Cadence’s Xcelium Parallel Logic Simulator, which is claimed will accelerate the development of application-specific integrated circuits.

IFR’s projected growth of collaborative robots market ‘in line’ with Universal expectations

The International Federation of Robotics’ new report into the global industrial robotics market predicts significant growth in the collaborative robotics segment.

Universal Robots is widely regarded as the market leader in collaborative robots, having been the first to launch such machines almost 10 years ago and having sold more than 10,000 units since.
