What is 3D Annotation Services?

December 29, 2025 by Sam Francis

Annotation is an important aspect of developing various fields today, including computer vision, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Although there are numerous ways to annotate data, one of the most innovative ways is 3D annotation.

This method provides a greater level of accuracy and thoroughness in labelling/tagging than is possible with traditional 2D annotations on still images or videos.

Essentially, 3D annotation is the ability to label everything in a 3D environment. In this article, we explore what 3D annotation services are and examine the different types of 3D annotation used across industries today. [Read more…] about What is 3D Annotation Services?

What’s the Best Way to Reduce Cable Failures in Moving Robots (Arms, AGVs, and Humanoid Joints)?

December 29, 2025 by Sam Francis

If you have ever dealt with robotic systems, you know cables are something you cannot live without and at the same time you hate them so much. They are the lifelines that operate the motors, transmit and ensure that everything works well.

However, these cables are beaten up when robots are in motion, maybe it is a robotic arm on an assembly line, an autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) dashing about a warehouse or the joints of a humanoid robot moving their parts about in unusual manners.

Cable breakdowns can cause your whole business to come to a standstill, time, money and a hundred headaches. [Read more…] about What’s the Best Way to Reduce Cable Failures in Moving Robots (Arms, AGVs, and Humanoid Joints)?

Robotics for good: Startups tackling social and environmental challenges

December 28, 2025 by Sam Francis

Robotics is most often discussed in terms of productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction. Factory automation, warehouse robots, and autonomous vehicles dominate the conversation.

Yet a quieter strand of innovation is focused elsewhere:

  • on helping people live more independently;
  • protecting fragile ecosystems; and
  • responding to crises where human access is limited or dangerous.

This feature looks at a selection of startups and emerging technologies applying robotics to social and environmental challenges. The aim is not to romanticise the field, but to show how practical machines are being designed to solve problems that markets and policy alone have struggled to address. Startup world: Incubators, accelerators and university spin-offs fueling robotics innovation

December 27, 2025 by Sam Francis

Robotics & Automation News takes a high-level look at the global robotics startup ecosystem, and highlights the programs and institutions shaping it.

Robotics innovation rarely emerges fully formed from a garage or a single breakthrough moment. Unlike software startups, robotics companies must contend with physical systems, complex supply chains, safety requirements, certification hurdles, and long development cycles. Capital alone is rarely enough.

Instead, many of the world’s most influential robotics startups trace their origins to a quieter layer of the innovation economy: university laboratories, public research institutions, incubators, and accelerators purpose-built for hardware development.

These programs provide not just funding, but access to infrastructure, talent, industrial partners, and time – all of which are critical in a sector where premature scaling can be fatal. [Read more…] about Startup world: Incubators, accelerators and university spin-offs fueling robotics innovation

Best 5 Wind Turbine Inspection Software Platforms

December 26, 2025 by David Edwards

Wind energy is one of the fastest-growing sources of renewable power, but as wind farms expand in size and complexity, maintaining turbine integrity becomes increasingly challenging.

Turbines operate in extreme environments, exposed to constant mechanical stress, weather erosion, salt corrosion (offshore), and lightning strikes. Each of these factors can accelerate structural wear and reduce performance if not detected early.

For operators, the problem is not just technical, it is financial and operational. Unplanned downtime, inefficient inspections, human risk during rope access, delayed repairs, and unclear asset data all contribute to lost energy production and rising maintenance costs.
