Rethink Robotics establishes new company headquarters and Siemens Technology Accelerator as a shareholder

At its new Bochum, Germany headquarters, Rethink Robotics will develop new robotics technologies with the support of Siemens Corporate Technology, creating highly jobs for skilled professionals.

During the summer of 2020, Rethink Robotics, as a subsidiary of the HAHN Group, moved into new company headquarters, where the production of collaborative robot systems takes place. The location has been officially inaugurated in the presence of Bochum’s Lord Mayor Thomas Eiskirch and Bernd Tönjes, CEO of the RAG-Stiftung, a majority stakeholder in the HAHN Group through its holding company RSBG SE.

The premises are part of the new HAHN Group Technology Center, a meeting point for customers and partners to experience and further develop innovative technologies. In the immediate vicinity of universities and research institutions, this creates a central place for the exchange of information, skills and technological developments. The building itself was constructed by sister companies of the HAHN Group within the RAG-Stiftung, accounting for the short-term space requirements and promoting further growth. Hahn Group scales automation for medical device manufacturers

Hahn Group exhibited at MedTec Live in Nuremberg, Germany last month, with its Invotec, Rethink Robotics and Waldorf Technik companies.

Invotec has over 25 years of experience designing and building custom automation equipment for medical device manufacturers.

With a new facility in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany, their experts were at the show highlighting the latest developments in assembly, test, and inspection equipment.

Hahn Group continues growth with acquisition of Rethink Robotics IP and appointment of Philipp Unterhalt

Hahn Group says it is continuing to grow after it recently acquired the intellectual property of Rethink Robotics and with the appointment of Philipp Unterhalt. 

Unterhalt has been appointed managing director of the Hahn Group and interim CEO of Rethink Robotics.

Hahn Group acquires Rethink Robotics technology

The Hahn Group, an international automation and robotics technology firm, has strengthened its portfolio and service offering by acquiring robotic technology from US robotic pioneer Rethink Robotics, which shut down in October.

Hahn Group has acquired all patents and trademarks of Rethink Robotics as well as its software platform “Intera5”.

Using the Intera software platform, which enables users to intuitively program industrial robots, Rethink Robotics has been the leader in the industrial deployment of collaborative robots, or “cobots.”

Universal Robots hires more than 20 former Rethink Robotics employees

Universal Robots is hiring more than 20 former Rethink Robotics employees, now that the latter company has closed down.

Universal Robots says the move is aimed at “reinforcing both companies’ pioneering roles in collaborative robotics”.

Analysis: Universal Robots continues to dominate cobot market but faces many challengers

Universal Robots continued to dominate the collaborative robot industry in the first half of 2018, although Interact Analysis estimates its market share dipped a little this year.

Despite the exit of cobot pioneer, Rethink Robotics, UR faces an increasing number of challengers and the fledgling industry remains fragmented.

Universal Robots still maintains an incredibly strong hold over the collaborative robot market. Rethink Robotics signs up new distribution partners

Rethink Robotics has signed deals with seven new distribution partners throughout the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific to increase the availability of its smart, collaborative robots.

The company’s Sawyer robot is a smart automation solution to address challenges such as labour shortages and improve efficiencies across industries such as plastics, packaging and co-packing, metal fabrication, electronics and the automotive supply chain.

The new partners will join Rethink’s existing suite of partners to help meet the growing demand for Sawyer in North America, Europe and Asia. Rethink Robotics’ cobot solution includes industry-leading Intera software and the Clicksmart gripper technology, which make it easy to train and deploy.
