North Carolina DoT and Beep partner for autonomous vehicle testing projects

Beep, a provider of autonomous shared mobility solutions, has agreed a partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).

This partnership expands NCDOT’s Connected Autonomous Shuttle Supporting Innovation (CASSI) program to further the state’s understanding of autonomous technologies and demonstrate the viability of shared autonomy.

New York Power Authority cleared to fly drones beyond line of sight

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) has received its first federal approval to fly unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or drones beyond the visual line of sight (BVLOS) of the pilot in command.

In a significant step forward, this Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) waiver enables NYPA to conduct fully remote drone operations such as asset and vegetative management inspections at its Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project in Schoharie County.

NYPA’s growing drone program supports its industry-leading asset management strategies and is part of an Authority-wide digitization initiative to modernize grid infrastructure to advance the efficient delivery of clean power statewide. Just one year after returning from its unscheduled break, automatica – one of the world’s leading exhibitions for smart automation and robotics – will be held again from June 27 to 30, 2023.

ABB invests in Scalable Robotics to expand welding systems portfolio

ABB is entering into a strategic partnership with US-based startup Scalable Robotics, to enhance its portfolio of user-friendly robotic welding systems.

Through 3D vision and embedded process understanding, the Scalable Robotics technology allows customers to easily program welding robots without the need for coding.
