Mercadona calls in Cimcorp Automation to help move fresh produce from field to store within 24 hours

October 11, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Mercadona, a large grocery retailer in Spain and Portugal, has brought in Cimcorp Automation to further automate fresh food intralogistics at its distribution center in San Isidro, Spain.

Equipped with Cimcorp’s robotic solution, Mercadona says it now delivers fresh produce from field to store within 24 hours, thereby increasing shelf life for products, minimizing food waste, and ensuring freshness for customers.

Automation has also helped Mercadona improve workplace safety and satisfaction for its employees. This is the fifth automated system Cimcorp has implemented for Mercadona, following successful installations at several other new logistics facilities in Spain. Drives for speed in intralogistics: Faulhaber explains the importance of drive systems in warehouse robots

May 20, 2023 by David Edwards

Competitive intralogistics requires extensive automation, something that is inconceivable without micromotors. Drive systems from Faulhaber are used for their ability to perform during sorting, transporting and with robotics solutions.

Suitable transport structures in intralogistics are a prerequisite in all industries in order to be able to withstand competitive pressure in the future.

An increasing number of work steps involved in storing items in warehouses as well as retrieving these items and preparing them for dispatch are being taken over by automatic storage and retrieval machines, driverless transport systems and intelligent logistics robots. Kuka unveils new compact autonomous mobile robot for intralogistics

February 6, 2023 by David Edwards

Kuka has expanded its portfolio of mobile platforms with the unveiling of a new autonomous mobile robot for intralogistics.

Describing it as a “compact powerhouse meets the highest safety requirements”, Kuka says the new generation of the KMP 600-S diffDrive is “fast – up to two meters per second – and equally safe, thanks to laser scanners and 3D object detection”.

Mobile solutions must meet extremely high standards for industrial use, says the company. The Kuka KMP 600-S diffDrive mobile platform provides a new automated guided vehicle system with high-speed support for production intralogistics and a payload of up to 600 kg. How does Intralogistics support warehouse processes?

May 21, 2022 by David Edwards

The past few years have taught us many things and reliance on technology in today’s world is just one of those vital learnings.

Technology kept many businesses going and processes moving when the world stopped due to Covid-19. And, without a reliable intralogistics strategy, warehouse operation could be far more complex.

Intralogistics is the process of connecting and interacting with all systems relating to the flow of materials, information, automation, logistics and production within a warehouse. [Read more…] about How does Intralogistics support warehouse processes?

Fully automatic picking of unknown products from bulk material

November 23, 2021 by David Edwards

The goal: fully automated small parts picking.

In intralogistics, there has been a lot of hype about robots for some years now, whether in trade journals or at fairs.

Most of them are classic six-axis articulated robots that are looking for their way out of a production environment and into logistics.

The main driver here is the labour shortage, the big challenge not a technical component like the robot or the gripper, but the design of an overall economic process. [Read more…] about Fully automatic picking of unknown products from bulk material
