Rocla launches new automated compact truck for warehouses and loading docks

A Finland-based company called Rocla AGV has launched a new, agile AGV – named “ACT”, short for automated compact truck – designed to lift heavy loads in narrow spaces.

Trimble unveils new ‘advanced’ path planning technology

Trimble has unveiled its new advanced path planning technology. This software-based technology gives Trimble end users and equipment manufacturers the ability to optimize and automate the trajectory, speed and overall path design of industrial equipment to increase efficiency of work.

Manufacturers worldwide can now provide their customers with an easy-to-integrate, automated solution that works not only with Trimble systems, but also with an equipment manufacturer’s existing system.

Körber chooses robotics-as-a-service for next phase of e-fulfillment journey

Körber has decided that the next phase of its journey in e-fulfillment will use robotics-as-a-service.

The technology company which employs more than 12,000 people worldwide says RaaS “empowers businesses to adapt and thrive in new era of supply chain complexity”.

Fernride and Terberg partner to take automated terminal tractors into series production

Fernride, which specializes in autonomous trucking, and Terberg, a maker of terminal tractors, have agreed a collaboration to develop an automated terminal tractor CE certified for commercial production.

This solution offers both teleoperated and autonomous driving capabilities to ensure a smooth and gradual transition to full autonomy with human-in-the-loop. The partnership started in 2021 and the series-production of these trucks will start in 2024, ready for gradual autonomy.

The first 100 trucks will be rolled out to Fernride and Terberg’s customers in container terminals, production plants, and distribution centers to lower logistics costs, boost efficiency, and guarantee safety. Plus One Robotics raises $50 million in new funding

Plus One Robotics, a provider of advanced AI vision software and solutions for robotic parcel handling, has raised $50 million in Series C funding.

The round was led by Scale Venture Partners, with Partner Rory O’Driscoll joining the board of directors. Top Tier Capital Partners, Tyche Partners, ROBO Global Ventures, Translink, McRock, and Pritzker Group Venture Capital also participated in the round alongside existing investors, which brings the company’s total funding to date to nearly $100 million.

Honeywell opens advanced warehouse automation center in Czech Republic

Honeywell has opened a new research and development center at its advanced technology facility in Brno, a city in the Czech Republic, to help warehouse and logistics companies across Europe enhance their supply chains and strengthen the accuracy, efficiency and throughput of packages.

The state-of-the-art facility will be used by Honeywell’s engineers to develop next-generation warehouse solutions including intelligent conveyor systems, robotics, automatic storage and retrieval systems, sorting systems, palletisers and advanced picking technologies controlled by voice and light commands.

Sweden’s leading online pharmacy Apotea automated its logistics centre in Autumn 2022 to quickly, easily, and smoothly deliver approximately 50,000 orders a day to its customers.

Following international cooperation between Element Logic, AutoStore, RightHand Robotics and Apotea, the centre fully integrated eOperator piece-picking robots with an AutoStore solution, a world first.

AutoStore launches pay-per-pick option to meet ‘fast-growing demand’ for its fulfillment automation

AutoStore has made its warehouse automaton system available as a pay-per-pick service. 

The company says its new offering will “enable a lower entry price point to help retailers meet the growing need for more efficient warehouse operations and faster customer delivery”.

Qualcomm and Zebra invest in Third Wave Automation

Third Wave Automation, a provider of high-reach autonomous forklifts, has received strategic investments from Qualcomm Ventures and Zebra Technologies, bringing the startup’s total funding to $70 million.

Carlos Kokron, vice president, Qualcomm Technologies, and managing director, Qualcomm Ventures Americas, says: “The increasing adoption of advanced robotics, artificial intelligence and 5G connectivity is facilitating the use of autonomous solutions within the warehouse.

“Third Wave Automation’s shared autonomy approach with continuous learning capabilities delivers immediate value to the customers by easily integrating with existing workflows while enhancing labor productivity and safety.
