ABB introduces most compact, AI-powered AMR for payloads up to 1500 kg

June 26, 2025 by Sam Francis

ABB says it is “extending its leadership in AI-powered autonomous mobile robotics” with the launch of the Flexley Mover P603 platform AMR, the most compact model in its class to handle payloads of up to 1500 kg.

Designed to boost intralogistics efficiency, the P603 combines compact design with AI-driven Visual SLAM navigation and the latest version of AMR Studio software that maximizes flexibility by enabling different modules to be integrated into the AMR.

Marc Segura, president, ABB Robotics, says: “Our Autonomous Mobile Robots combine 3D vision with autonomous path planning to give our customers an unprecedented offering: robots that see, sense, and think. [Read more…] about ABB introduces most compact, AI-powered AMR for payloads up to 1500 kg

ABB unveils new mobile robot with Visual SLAM and AMR Studio Suite

May 20, 2024 by David Edwards

ABB Robotics has launched its first Flexley Tug T702 autonomous mobile robot equipped with AI-based Visual SLAM navigation technology and the new AMR Studio software, enabling first-time robot users to easily program and operate entire fleets of mobile robots.

The new capabilities simplify configuration and can reduce commissioning time by up to 20 percent, paving the way for a workplace where intelligent robots operate autonomously, amid a critical shortage of skilled labor.

Marc Segura, president of ABB Robotics, says: “Following our acquisition of Sevensense in January, I’m pleased to offer our first AMR with AI-based Visual SLAM technology and AMR Studio software.

Kawasaki demonstrates unmanned cargo transport system which combines an aircraft and a mobile wheeled robot

January 17, 2022 by Mai Tao

Kawasaki Heavy Industries says it has successfully completed proof-of-concept (PoC) testing for an unmanned cargo transport system. (See video below.)

The system combines Kawasaki’s K-Racer-X1 prototype unmanned vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft and what is commonly described in the industry as an autonomous mobile robot, and which the company describes as a “delivery robot”.

Kawasaki says the PoC testing was conducted with the aim of helping to solve societal issues such as labor shortages in the logistics industry. [Read more…] about Kawasaki demonstrates unmanned cargo transport system which combines an aircraft and a mobile wheeled robot

Why you’re looking at AGV / AMR technology all wrong

August 3, 2021 by Liv

How can a company looking to implement automation select the AGV/AMR that best suits them? How can automation integrators predict which manufacturers will help them hit the ground running and deploy on time and on budget?

When seeking technology solutions, buyers often look to research reports and industry pundits for guidance. Yet we claim that the current view provided in most reviews is misleading: It is missing a fundamental shift that is happening today in the AGV/AMR market.

That shift is the rise in the importance of agility, speed and customization as a leading success factor. [Read more…] about Why you’re looking at AGV / AMR technology all wrong
