Einride completes auction for first design sketch of its autonomous truck

December 21, 2021 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Swedish freight technology company Einride has completed an auction for the first-ever sketch of its award-winning Pod – its name for the autonomous truck it launched a few years ago. The auction was its first foray into the crypto space as the sketch was part of what’s called a “non-fungible token”.

A non-fungible token, or NFT, is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a blockchain, which is a form of digital ledger and forms the basis of cryptocurrencies. Basically, it’s like a bitcoin or something you exchange for bitcoins.

The Pod, an all-electric, totally autonomous vehicle, was first debuted in 2016 and Einride has since delivered on its promise to reduce carbon emissions for customers by more than 90 percent compared with traditional diesel freight vehicles. The portrait, called Edmond de Belamy (main picture), is believed to be the first piece of AI art to go under the hammer at a major auction house and is created by French art collective “Obvious”.

The AI system compares its own portraits against ones made by human artists and works on them until it is unable to tell the difference between the two.  [Read more…] about Christie’s in New York to auction painting produced by artificial intelligence for around $10,000
