Natural language processing and voice control for robots: The conversational robot

August 29, 2025 by Mai Tao

Robots are steadily becoming easier to interact with. For decades, programming a robot meant learning a proprietary interface or mastering complex code.

Now, thanks to advances in natural language processing (NLP) and voice control, operators can instruct machines using everyday speech.

This shift promises to make robots more accessible to non-technical users, expand their applications, and ultimately accelerate adoption across industries. [Read more…] about Natural language processing and voice control for robots: The conversational robot

Beyond AI Appreciation Day: The year-round value of AI and robotics

August 7, 2025 by Mai Tao

By Freddy Kuo, chairman of Luminys, chairman of Sync Robotic and special office executive assistant at Foxlink

Since 2021, technologists have marked July 16 as AI Appreciation Day. The holiday provides an opportunity to recognize how AI is transforming both our personal and professional lives.

One of the areas where AI has been particularly influential is in robotics. With AI at its core, robots can think, adapt, and act autonomously throughout different environments.

While this year’s celebration has passed, it’s worth recognizing the innovation driving AI and robotics year-round. These technologies are not only reshaping industries but also redefining how we solve global challenges. [Read more…] about Beyond AI Appreciation Day: The year-round value of AI and robotics

Genesis AI raises $105 million to build ‘universal’ robotics foundation model

July 1, 2025 by Sam Francis

Genesis AI, a global physical AI research lab and full-stack robotics company, emerged from stealth today with a mission to unlock unlimited physical labor.

The company is building a universal robotics foundation model (RFM) and a horizontal robotics platform, raising $105 million co-led by Eclipse and Khosla Ventures, with participation from Bpifrance, HSG, and visionary leaders Eric Schmidt and Xavier Niel.

Physical labor contributes an estimated $30-40 trillion to the Global GDP, yet over 95 percent of it remains unautomated due to the limitations of current automation solutions. Today’s robotic systems, such as industrial arms, rely on brittle, rigid, and overfitted software stacks.
