CES 2026 highlights shift from humanoid hardware to real-world behavior, says IntBot

February 2, 2026 by Sam Francis

According to Intbot, CES 2026 made one thing clear: “Robots have mastered movement”. On the show floor, they danced, backflipped, played ping pong, and posed for selfies, solid proof that hardware capability is no longer limiting their development.

What’s still missing? How robots behave autonomously in the real world, outside scripted demos and controlled settings.

IntBot, a humanoid robotics company focused on social intelligence, says the industry is entering a new phase where differentiation will be defined less by mechanics and more by judgment, context, and presence. [Read more…] about CES 2026 highlights shift from humanoid hardware to real-world behavior, says IntBot

Sharpa showcases autonomous fine-manipulation robot and new AI model at CES 2026

January 31, 2026 by Sam Francis

Robotics startup Sharpa used live demonstrations at CES 2026 to showcase advances in autonomous fine manipulation, unveiling a new full-body robot and an AI model designed to improve how robots interact with objects.

At the event in Las Vegas, Sharpa’s newly introduced robot, North, played fully autonomous games of ping-pong against human opponents throughout the show.

Rather than relying on pre-scripted demonstrations, the company ran live sessions for eight hours a day over four consecutive days, drawing large crowds as the rallies continued. [Read more…] about Sharpa showcases autonomous fine-manipulation robot and new AI model at CES 2026

The view from Universal Robots: Four physical AI predictions for 2026 and beyond

January 31, 2026 by Sam Francis

By Anders Billesø Beck, vice president, AI robotics products at Universal Robots

The robotics industry is evolving faster than ever, and the signals of what’s next are already visible. As someone focused on shaping the future of automation, I see four trends that will redefine how robots create value.

From smarter math and cooperative behaviors to industry-specific AI and a new data economy, here’s what I predict will matter most in the years ahead. [Read more…] about The view from Universal Robots: Four physical AI predictions for 2026 and beyond

4XRobots expands into US market with focus on greenhouse automation

January 31, 2026 by Sam Francis

Danish robotics company 4XRobots is expanding its presence in the United States as it looks to scale automation in commercial greenhouse operations across North America.

The company has appointed Nick Chambers as head of global market development and insight to lead the expansion and has joined the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), a move aimed at building partnerships with North American robotics integrators, suppliers and technology partners.

4XRobots develops collaborative Delta robots designed specifically for controlled-environment agriculture, including greenhouses, where space is limited and layouts are difficult to redesign. [Read more…] about 4XRobots expands into US market with focus on greenhouse automation

Exotec expands partnership with Renault at warehouse in Germany

January 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Exotec, a provider of warehouse robotics, is equipping Renault Deutschland, the France-headquartered car manufacturer, with its Skypod system to modernize its logistics capabilities at its Brühl site.

Starting in 2026, Renault plans to supply car dealers across Germany with spare parts for its models, using an automated warehouse in the country for the first time.

Following the successful deployment of Renault’s French site in Villeroy last year, the warehouse robotics specialist is now equipping Renault Group in Germany with its Skypod system within their new, 258,000 square foot automated warehouse. Automated port and terminal operations: Robots moving global trade

January 29, 2026 by Sam Francis

Autonomous straddle carriers, cranes, and internal terminal vehicles

Ports are among the most automated industrial environments in the world – yet they remain largely invisible in discussions about robotics and autonomy.

While factories and warehouses dominate headlines, container terminals quietly operate as vast cyber-physical systems, coordinating fleets of machines that move the physical foundations of global trade.

A modern container port is not a single robot or even a fleet of robots. It is an integrated system of cranes, vehicles, sensors, software platforms, and human supervision, operating continuously under intense economic and political pressure. When ports fail, supply chains fracture. When they perform well, global commerce flows with little notice. [Read more…] about Automated port and terminal operations: Robots moving global trade
