Robotics-oriented seafood company Shinkei Systems expands California headquarters

Shinkei Systems, which says it “sets the new standard for the very best fish through its robotics technology”, says it will more than double the size of its corporate footprint with a new headquarters in El Segundo, California.

As one of the fastest-growing food robotics startups in the country, Shinkei moved into a new 15,000 square foot space at El Segundo’s Standard Works campus, located in the heart of LA’s thriving coastal tech hub.

The multipurpose space at 1301 El Segundo Blvd. will be used to engineer, test, and manufacture the company’s robotic systems, as well as serve as the corporate offices for its premium seafood brand, Seremoni. Zebra Technologies, a specialist provider of supply chain technologies, says its client Geneva10 Fulfillment (G10) is increase productivity by more than 40 percent” by implementing its warehouse automation and digitization systems.

G10 selected Zebra Symmetry Fulfillment, a “comprehensive” AI-powered solution combining the functions of a warehouse execution system (WES) with robot fleet management and powerful analytics, to increase productivity and reduce costs in its warehouse operations.

Using this solution along with Zebra Symmetry Connect Fulfillment AMRs, G10 expects to increase productivity by more than 40 percent, lower costs, and manage higher order volumes more effectively. DHL to invest $744 million and install more than 1,000 extra robots to meet growing demand

DHL Supply Chain says it plans to invest €637 million ($744 million) to expand its infrastructure and accelerate the rollout of automation across its customer operations in UK and Ireland, to support growing demand in the e-commerce and life sciences health care sectors. 

The new investment builds on the €1 billion already spent on automation by DHL Supply Chain over the last three years, with more than 3,200 digitalisation projects deployed across the UK and Ireland and EMEA.

Until 2030, DHL’s contract logistics business plans to significantly increase its scale in UK&I as well as globally, with automation, robotics and digitalisation being a key enabler of this growth. Gartner predicts one in 20 supply chain managers will manage robots, not humans, by 2030

Eighty percent of humans will engage with smart robots on a daily basis, and one in 20 supply chain managers will manage robots, rather than humans, by 2030, according to business management consultancy Gartner.

Organizations are placing greater emphasis on enhancing the capabilities of their existing workforce by supplementing with robotics due to factors like labor scarcity and rising costs.

Smart robots have been identified by chief supply chain officers (CSCOs) as an important investment area, though many acknowledge their organization lacks internal robotics expertise to maximally leverage these innovative technologies. DHL inaugurates Exotec automation system at Italy facility

DHL Supply Chain Italy has inaugurated a new automation system at its Health Logistics Campus in Livraga (Lodi).

In a dedicated area of more than 7,000 sq m, 138 robots deliver “high-performance automation” powered by Exotec’s Skypod Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS), now serving two key customers in the life sciences and healthcare sector: Viatris and DOC Pharma.
