GM-Honda begin commercial production at ‘industry’s first’ hydrogen fuel cell system manufacturing joint venture

In what is being described as “a pivotal moment” in the commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell systems, GM and Honda have started production at their 50-50 joint venture production facility, FCSM.

FCSM is claimed to be “the first large-scale manufacturing joint venture to build fuel cells”.

ZF opens new factories in India and the USA

ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) division is leveraging global growth opportunities brought by increasing trends towards decarbonizing commercial vehicles.

Yesterday, the division opened a plant in Oragadam, India (Tamil Nadu Province), where electric components will also be produced for the Indian and Asian markets.

A week earlier, ZF’s US plant in Gray Court started local production of the efficient and hybrid-capable PowerLine transmission for light commercial vehicles for the North American market. Alstom starts production of driverless trains for metro network in India

Alstom, a French multinational train manufacturer, has started the production of its driverless Metropolis trainsets for the Chennai Metro Phase II from its manufacturing facility in Sricity.

This order aims to deliver 36 metro trainsets, each comprising of three cars, and capable of operating at a top speed of 80 kmph. These trains are designed to run on the 26 km corridor, a segment of Phase II linking Poonamallee Bypass to Light House via 28 stations (18 elevated and 10 underground).

Skyline Robotics raises $9.8 million funding to automate window cleaning

Skyline Robotics, developers of Ozmo, “the world’s first robotic-armed window cleaning robot”, has raised $9.8 million Pre-Series A-2 funding (including the conversion of SAFE Notes) round led by Standard Skyline with additional contributions from Durst Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of the Durst Organization, and HNW individuals.

To date, Skyline Robotics has raised $19.4 million. This latest round will support Ozmo’s expansion into NYC and London, grow the R&D team to bolster Ozmo’s service offerings, and formalize Skyline’s new construction line of business.

HummingbirdEV to open microfactory for its zero-emission commercial vehicles in UAE

HummingbirdEV, a global provider of advanced commercial vehicle electrification systems, announced today it will establish a new advanced microfactory facility in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The facility will produce HummingbirdEV’s zero-emission commercial vehicles to accelerate adoption of sustainable transportation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Southeast Asia, and India.

HummingbirdEV’s presence in the UAE will enable the company to deliver zero-emission commercial vehicles for an existing e-commerce customer and leverage the country’s free trade agreements with Southeast Asia, India and surrounding MENA markets for further expansion of its customer base. Wieland unveils $500 million modernization and expansion project in Illinois

Wieland, a global supplier of high-quality copper and copper alloy solutions, says it plans to make a “landmark $500 million capital investment” to re-equip, expand, and modernize its facility located in East Alton, Illinois.

The investment is subject to the approval of state and local incentives.

Pipedream Partners with Curiosity Lab to launch ‘world’s first’ underground autonomous logistics network

Peachtree Corners, one of the America’s first smart cities powered by real-world connected infrastructure and 5G, has launched what it says is “the world’s first below-ground autonomous robot delivery system”. 

The project partner is Pipedream, the underground logistics network that is “revolutionizing the way goods are delivered”.

Peachtree Corners’ government and its partners say the new delivery system is bringing consumers “unprecedented convenience through faster, autonomous, efficient and cost-effective transportation channels”.
