Dürr builds automotive paint shop for Volkswagen plant in Mexico

September 2, 2025 by Mai Tao

Dürr has built a paint shop designed to slash CO2 emissions at one of the Volkswagen Group’s largest manufacturing facilities. The plant in Puebla, Mexico, was inaugurated in January 2025.

The turnkey project includes two identical painting lines that are particularly environmentally friendly due to their electrified equipment, such as the electric drying system.

Dürr is also implementing key components of its new “Paint Shop of the Future” concept with a high-bay warehouse and driverless transport systems. [Read more…] about Dürr builds automotive paint shop for Volkswagen plant in Mexico

Selecting Industrial SCARA Robots: Criteria and Recommendations

August 30, 2025 by Mai Tao

In today’s competitive manufacturing landscape, SCARA robots have emerged as the backbone of modern production automation.

These versatile machines are transforming everything from electronics assembly to food packaging, but here’s the thing – choosing the wrong robot can cost you more than just money.

I’ve seen companies struggle with underperforming systems simply because they didn’t understand what they were buying.

The stakes are high. A poorly selected robot can bottleneck your entire production line, while the right choice can boost efficiency by 40% or more.

That’s why I’m sharing this practical guide – to help you navigate the technical maze and make a decision that actually works for your specific needs. [Read more…] about Selecting Industrial SCARA Robots: Criteria and Recommendations

Fanuc receives ‘major robot order’ from luxury automotive manufacturer

August 27, 2025 by Mai Tao

Fanuc, the world’s largest industrial robot manufacturer, says it has received a “significant order” to supply a state-of-the-art paint system, including paint robots and advanced application technology.

Nearly 50 robots will be delivered to a “European luxury carmaker”, says Fanuc, which has more robots installed worldwide than any other robotics company.

Jan Kamenicky, head of paint at Fanuc Europe, says: “We are managing the entire project, including installation. The Fanuc robots will paint both car bodies and plastic add-on parts such as bumpers. [Read more…] about Fanuc receives ‘major robot order’ from luxury automotive manufacturer

Delta Electronics unveils new collaborative robots at Automation Taipei

August 25, 2025 by Mai Tao

Delta Electronics has unveiled new smart manufacturing solutions at Automation Taipei 2025, including the Asian debut of its collaborative robots (cobots) and AI cognitive module, which enable intuitive human-robot collaboration for industries such as electronics, automotive, and logistics.

The company also demonstrated its cyber-physical integration demo line, which uses digital twin technology to cut design-to-deployment time by 20 percent.

Andy Liu, general manager of Delta’s Industrial Automation Business Group, says: “Geopolitical tensions, tariffs, and rising carbon emissions costs are driving manufacturers to decentralize production across the globe. Beyond manufacturing: Cobots in healthcare, labs, and food service

July 25, 2025 by David Edwards

When you hear the word “robot”, you probably picture a massive, unmoving arm on an assembly line, precisely welding car parts or lifting heavy machinery. And for good reason – industrial robots have revolutionized manufacturing for decades.

But a new breed of robotic assistants, collaborative robots or cobots, are breaking free from the factory floor, proving their versatility and value in an array of surprising environments.

Designed to work safely alongside humans, cobots are now making significant inroads into fields like healthcare, laboratory research, and even food service, transforming how we approach tasks in these diverse sectors. Kuka receives follow-up order for robotic friction welding cells from major automotive manufacturer

July 21, 2025 by David Edwards

Following a major order last year for 23 friction welding cells with integrated robots for the electric vehicle production of a major automotive manufacturer in the US, Kuka has now received a follow-up order for 12 additional cells for a production expansion.

The delivered cells will be installed and commissioned in stages by August 2025. The FSW cells (FSW stands for friction stir welding) with Kuka KR Fortec robots and clamping devices tailored to the welding process will be integrated into production lines for electric vehicles, where they will be used in several manufacturing steps:

The robots in the cells weld battery cases together and, in a second production stage, connect cooling water jackets to the battery cases. Kuka is also responsible for the entire friction stir welding process, including assembly, commissioning, training, and final acceptance at the customer’s site. The evolving role of the human worker alongside cobots: Upskilling and new job creation

July 18, 2025 by David Edwards

In the early days of industrial automation, the arrival of machines on the factory floor was often seen as a threat to human employment.

Entire roles were mechanized, displacing workers and forcing industries to re-evaluate the relationship between people and machines.

Today, as collaborative robots – or “cobots” – become more common in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and beyond, the conversation is shifting.

Rather than replacing humans, cobots are increasingly seen as tools that augment human capabilities, reshaping the modern workforce through upskilling and creating entirely new job categories in the process. Mujin establishes global executive team to accelerate expansion of MujinOS

July 15, 2025 by David Edwards

Mujin, the pioneer of intelligent robotics, has established a “Global Leadership Cabinet” (GLC) to unify its operations worldwide and drive the commercial expansion of its flagship platform, MujinOS.

The GLC will align technology, product, sales, and governance functions across all regions, positioning the company for its next phase of growth and long-term strategic plans.

At the heart of MujinOS is a real-time digital twin, a continuously updating model of a robotics system’s physical environment, forming the core of machine intelligence. This no-code technology allows robots to plan and adapt in real-time without the need to directly program behaviors.
