Arix Technologies launches partner program for robotic corrosion inspections

Arix Technologies, a developer of robotic solutions for industrial corrosion detection, has launched a new global partner program aimed at expanding access to its pipe-climbing inspection robot, Venus.

The program targets non-destructive testing (NDT) companies and industrial managed service providers (MSPs) seeking to enhance their offerings with automation.

Ati Motors to showcase latest autonomous mobile robots at Automate event

Ati Motors is set to showcase a range of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) at Automate 2025, taking place May 12-15 in Detroit.

The company will demonstrate four models at booth #1823, including a US debut and a product launch.

Headlining the lineup is the Sherpa Pallet Mover, a robust AMR capable of autonomously lifting and transporting up to 1 ton (1,000 kg).

Daimler delivers ‘autonomous-ready’ trucks to Torc Robotics

Daimler Truck North America has delivered a new fleet of autonomous-ready trucks to its subsidiary Torc Robotics, marking a significant milestone in their push toward commercializing driverless freight transport.

The vehicles, built on the newly launched fifth-generation Freightliner Cascadia platform, are now being integrated into Torc’s testing program along one of America’s busiest freight corridors between Laredo and Dallas.

The new trucks represent Daimler’s most advanced Class 8 platform yet, featuring built-in redundancy across critical safety systems such as braking and steering – essential for achieving SAE Level 4 autonomous operation. Comau enters into a binding agreement to acquire Automha

Comau has signed a binding agreement for the acquisition of Automha, an Italian company operating in the warehousing and intralogistics automation industry, owned by Trasma.

The closing of the transaction is subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions precedent in transactions of this type, including necessary regulatory approvals, and is expected to occur in the second quarter of 2025.

Under the terms of the agreement Comau will acquire 100 percent of Automha shares, paving the way for new opportunities within the rapidly growing warehousing and logistics sector and establishing a further step toward the creation of a forward-focused Italian industrial automation hub able to innovate and compete in multiple markets. Universal Robots helps rock band OK Go sync 30 robots in music video

Collaborative robot arms take center stage in the Grammy Award-winning band’s latest visual creation

OK Go, the American rock band known for its wildly imaginative music videos, has once again pushed the boundaries of art and engineering – this time with the help of Universal Robots. (See video below.) 

In the music video for their latest single from the 2023 album Love, the band enlisted 30 robotic arms to create a visual symphony that merges choreography, automation, and musical performance.

SW establishes subsidiary in India

Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen (SW) is further expanding its global footprint with the opening of a new subsidiary in Pune, India, effective April 1, 2025.

Machine learning unlocks ‘superior performance’ in light-driven organic crystals

Researchers at Waseda, University, Japan have developed a machine learning workflow to optimize the output force of photo-actuated organic crystals.

Using LASSO (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) regression to identify key molecular substructures and Bayesian optimization for efficient sampling, they achieved a maximum blocking force of 37.0 mN – 73 times more efficient than conventional methods.

Xaba raises $6 million to build ‘synthetic brains’ for industrial robots

Xaba, a startup which says it is building “synthetic brains for industrial robots with zero code”, has secured a $6 million seed extension to accelerate the deployment of AI-powered robotics and cognitive industrial control systems.

The round was led by Hitachi Ventures with participation from Hazelview Ventures, BDC Capital, Exposition Ventures, and Impact Venture Capital.
