The truth of the matter is that we cannot compare our modern-day car with our old car. They are, in many ways, different. For instance, Older cars are made of steel, while modern cars are made of aluminum.

That’s not all; the designs are different; likewise, the interior and the exterior are totally not the same and can not meet up to the standard modern cars. Now, in terms of safety, we all know that that should be everyone’s priority, even before considering fancy features.

American Bureau of Shipping issues ‘first ever’ autonomous vessel classification for Saildrone

Saildrone, a specialist in ocean data collection using autonomous vehicles, has received what it says is “the first-ever classification for an autonomous, uncrewed surface vehicle” (USV) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

The Saildrone Voyager, the mid-class vehicle in Saildrone’s rapidly expanding fleet, is the first-ever commercial USV to receive classification. ABS has been setting rigorous standards for safety and excellence as one of the world’s leading classification organizations and is at the forefront of marine and offshore innovation.

Classification is a major milestone for Saildrone, allowing the Voyager to operate in the ports and waters of countries that require vessels to be classed by organizations such as ABS, and demonstrates Saildrone’s commitment to safety, standardization, and reliability in its technology and operations. DHL and AutoStore expand partnership to further automate global warehousing

DHL Supply Chain, one of the world’s largest contract logistics companies, and AutoStore, a robotic technology company specializing in automated storage and retrieval systems, are expanding their partnership in a move set to further automated warehouse operations on global scale.

DHL Supply Chain, already involved in nine operational AutoStore warehouse projects with four more in the planning stage, is poised to become one of AutoStore’s largest 3PL clients, reinforcing their commitment to digitalization and automation.

The nine existing Systems effectively operate 800,000 bins, with the forthcoming four Systems elevating the total number of bins to a remarkable 1.2 million. In the future, DHL also intends to construct five further facilities in addition to those already in operation or planning. More than 20 robotics and automation vendors will showcase hands-on demonstrations at large free-to-attend Waves of Innovation event at AT&T stadium, the home of the football team the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington on November 15

Despite the Dallas metro adding more than 10,000 manufacturing jobs over the past 10 months, the region still has more job vacancies than applicants.

“Historically low labor participation rates in our area means manufacturers are often unable to staff their shifts,” says Nick Armenta, regional manager of Olympus Controls, an engineering services company that specializes in the integration of motion control, machine vision, and robotic technologies.

Construction automation: Promise Robotics raises $15 million Series A funding

Promise Robotics, an AI company developing a cloud-based industrial production platform for robotic construction and assembly, has raised $15 million in Series A funding, bringing its total funding raised to date to $25 million.

This round was led by Horizons Ventures with participation from Radical Ventures, PSP Investments, and strategic investors, including United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Relay Ventures, and Alate Partners.

ABB completes testing of robotic system for inserting charges in boreholes in mines

ABB says it has “successfully completed” testing of the industry-first automated robot charging technology for underground mines in partnership with mine operators Boliden and LKAB.

The goal is to make mines safer by automating one of few manual processes left in mining: charging the blasting holes with explosives.
