The global robot population is growing at what some might say is an alarming rate.

Uzbekistan Airways has selected General Electric’s GEnx-1B engines to power four new Boeing 787-8 aircraft, also known as Dreamliners.
The engine order is valued at more than $230 million, including a custom-ordered spare engine. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2018.

Siemens has entered into an agreement to acquire Montreal, Canada-based Infolytica, expanding the company’s simulation suite into electromagnetics.
Infolytica is said to be one of the original pioneers in the field of simulating low-frequency electromagnetics and its market-leading simulation software is used by manufacturers worldwide to predict electromagnetic and thermal performance.
This accelerates the development of reliable and optimized solutions for electric and electromagnetic devices such as electric machines – including motors, generators and transformers – as well as sensors, induction heating, magnetic resonance imaging, and shielding. The Electronic System Design Alliance Market Statistics Service reports that the electronic design automation industry revenue increased 9.8 percent for the second quarter of 2017 to $2,209.2 million, compared to $2,012.6 million in Q2 2016.
The four-quarters moving average, which compares the most recent four quarters to the prior four quarters, increased by 11.3 percent.
