AutoStore launches Bin Lift 2.0 to North American market

April 21, 2022 by David Edwards

Warehouse automation company AutoStore has launched its Bin Lift 2.0, which will extend the reachability of AutoStore bins in multi-level warehouses, enabling a flexible warehouse layout and reducing real estate costs.

Now available in North America, the vertical lift assists AutoStore bins, which are durable containers used to hold inventory and are handled precisely by AutoStore robots.

Compared to the previous Bin Lift 1.1 model that was only available in Europe, the Bin Lift 2.0 offers notable mechanical improvements and a better user experience, thanks to a significant noise reduction. [Read more…] about AutoStore launches Bin Lift 2.0 to North American market

Scientists unveil robotic grippers ‘delicate enough to lift egg yolks and precise enough to lift a human hair’

February 1, 2022 by Mai Tao

Engineering researchers from North Carolina State University have demonstrated a new type of flexible, robotic grippers that they say “are able to lift delicate egg yolks without breaking them, and that are precise enough to lift a human hair”. (See video below.)

The work has applications for both soft robotics and biomedical technologies.

The work draws on the art of kirigami, which involves both cutting and folding two-dimensional (2D) sheets of material to form three-dimensional (3D) shapes. [Read more…] about Scientists unveil robotic grippers ‘delicate enough to lift egg yolks and precise enough to lift a human hair’
