The Rise of Collaborative Robots and Human-Robot Teams in Modern Factories

February 8, 2026 by Sam Francis

Collaborative robots, commonly known as cobots, are reshaping how factories think about automation. Unlike traditional industrial robots that operate in isolated cells, cobots are designed to work safely alongside humans, sharing tasks, spaces, and workflows.

This shift is driven by the need for flexibility, rapid reconfiguration, and higher precision in increasingly complex manufacturing environments.

As cobots take on more delicate and variable tasks, system stability becomes critical. Small deviations in positioning, thermal expansion, or structural alignment can directly affect accuracy and repeatability. Why Material Stability is Becoming a Bottleneck in Automated Industrial Systems

February 8, 2026 by Sam Francis

Automation systems are increasingly defined by their ability to operate continuously, predictably, and at scale.

As robotics platforms, control software, and AI-driven decision layers mature, many manufacturers are discovering that system-level performance is no longer limited by algorithms or sensors, but by the physical materials that sit quietly between machines and processes.

In high-duty automation environments, material stability is emerging as a critical bottleneck that directly affects uptime, data reliability, and long-term operational efficiency. [Read more…] about Why Material Stability is Becoming a Bottleneck in Automated Industrial Systems

Interstuhl automates seat coating with Dürr’s robotic mould-surface technology

February 3, 2026 by Sam Francis

High-end furniture design company Interstuhl Büromöbel says it relies on modern coating technology from Dürr for the production of its work chairs for industrial and laboratory applications.

The new system automates the coating of the inner surfaces of foam moulds. Utilising the modular EcoSupply2 Core paint supply station and a 2K process controlled by an EcoAUC, Interstuhl has achieved an efficient coating process with up to five colours.

Interstuhl Büromöbel, headquartered in Meßstetten, is one of Europe’s leading chair manufacturers, producing high-quality office chairs for over 60 years. The company now employs innovative coating technology from Dürr in the production of its industrial and laboratory chairs. Dürr installs paint shop for ‘first’ Saudi automotive company

January 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Dürr is building an innovative and sustainable paint shop for CEER, the first Saudi automotive company and Saudi-born electric vehicle brand.

The order was placed back in 2023, and the project is currently in the installation phase. Automated guided vehicles will transport car bodies flexibly between stations based on demand in the modular system.

The latest application technology paints the interiors and exteriors of electric vehicles in the same box. In addition, there will be a box for fully automatic two-tone application without overspray. High-tech and sustainability go hand in hand.

Dürr supplies the latest generation of ovens which, combined with electric exhaust air purification systems, save energy and reduce CO2 emissions. The new facility will be one of the most advanced painting factories in the automotive world. [Read more…] about Dürr installs paint shop for ‘first’ Saudi automotive company

The real test of robotics: Can insights reach the factory floor?

December 4, 2025 by David Edwards

By Jason Hehman, industrials vertical lead, TXI

Robotics and AI promise major productivity gains in industrial contexts. The biggest challenge, in many cases, is translating those promises into actual utility on the factory floor.

The problem is that there is not (and there never will be) magical technology that works in every industrial context. The good news, however, is that there are basic principles that industrial leaders can use over and over to ensure that their technology investments lead to meaningful improvements for frontline operations.

Those principles: experimentation, user-centered design, and frontline delivery. Here, I’ll explain how industrial leaders can incorporate all three to consistently see positive ROI from tech investments. [Read more…] about The real test of robotics: Can insights reach the factory floor?
