6 River Systems Announces Wave of Enhancements at FLOW 2020

6 River Systems (6RS), part of Shopify Inc., a leading global commerce company, announced during its second annual user conference, FLOW 2020, a series of enhancements to its wall-to-wall fulfillment solution to help senior-level warehouse operators further improve site management, gain more concrete business transparency across singular or multiple sites and accelerate their return on investment.

Shopify to acquire 6 River Systems for $450 million

Shopify, an e-commerce platform used by about 800,000 businesses around the world, has reached an agreement to acquire 6 River Systems, a supplier of collaborative warehouse robots and fulfillment solutions.

In June, Shopify introduced the Shopify Fulfillment Network, a fulfillment network to ensure timely deliveries, lower shipping costs, and reports “superb customer experience” for merchants and their customers.

Shopify says the acquisition is “a critical step” to accelerate its growth, while 6 River Systems will also continue to build and sell their solution for warehouses. [Read more…] about Shopify to acquire 6 River Systems for $450 million

6 River Systems raises $25 million for its warehouse robots

Warehouse robot maker 6 River Systems has raised $25 million in Series B financing.

The funding round was led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from all existing investors including Norwest Venture Partners, Eclipse Ventures and iRobot.

Kiva Systems developers launch new company and their own logistics robot

Kiva Systems was a company that built a mobile robot for logistics operations, mainly for use in warehouses. It was a basically a small platform on wheels, and proved popular throughout the industry.

But then it got bought out by Amazon, which initially said it would still sell it to the rest of the logistics industry but actually didn’t. Instead it rebranded Kiva as Amazon Robotics and turned it into a business unit of its own.

The online retail giant now has one of the largest number of robots in operation of any company in the world.
