Kuka replaces its CEO as it reflects on ‘challenging financial year’

May 3, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Industrial automation specialist Kuka has replaced its CEO, Peter Mohnen, with a new one, Christoph Schell, as it reflects on what it has described as a “challenging financial year”.

Despite the difficult global economic situation, robotics and automation are important growth markets. Kuka has asserted itself well in this highly com-petitive market, has proven to be robust – also in comparison to the mechanical engineering and automotive industries – and increased its order intake by 1.3 percent to around €4.1 billion in the past financial year (2023: €4.0 billion). ABB financials and spin-offs: What’s behind the sharp drop in share price?

May 1, 2025 by Mark Allinson

ABB’s share price just a month ago was above CHF 50 (which converts to slightly more than $60). In the past few days, it’s fallen to below CHF 40. The company is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange, trading under the ticker symbol ABBN.

While the sudden decline may appear alarming, it’s important to consider the broader context. ABB’s stock has more than doubled over the past five years, indicating strong long-term investor confidence in the Swiss engineering giant.

The recent dip may reflect short-term uncertainty rather than a fundamental problem with the company’s business model or product offerings. [Read more…] about ABB financials and spin-offs: What’s behind the sharp drop in share price?

Robotic airport ground handling operations: High-tech robots ‘redefine safety and performance’

May 1, 2025 by Mark Allinson

High-tech robots are ‘redefining safety and performance in ground handling operations’, according to Nordic Dino Robotics, a provider of robots for automatic aircraft washing and aircraft cleaning services

Each year the aviation industry develops new solutions to improve ground handling operations efficiency and increase worker safety.

More and more companies are adopting enhanced ground support equipment (GSE) that can benefit both by advancing operational performance and helping to avoid incidents at work.

A good example of such useful GSE is automated aircraft-cleaning robots. These modern cleaning systems can optimise productivity and protect workers from significant risks associated with manual cleaning operations.
