Panasonic and Arm partner to ‘standardize’ software-defined vehicles

Panasonic Automotive Systems (PAS) and chip designer Arm have agreed a strategic partnership aimed at standardizing automotive architecture for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).

The two organizations share a common vision for creating a software stack with the flexibility to meet the current and future needs for automotive and have aligned on this through their active participation in SOAFEE, an industry-wide initiative that is driving greater collaboration in standardized software development across the automotive market.

This new partnership will see PAS and Arm adopt and extend the device virtualization framework VirtIO to decouple automotive software development from hardware and accelerate automotive industry development cycles. Volvo Group and Daimler Truck to jointly develop software-defined vehicle platform

Volvo Group and Daimler Truck are planning to create a joint venture to develop a common software-defined vehicle platform and dedicated truck operating system, providing the basis for future software-defined commercial vehicles.

The two leading companies in the commercial vehicle industry have now signed a binding agreement to establish the joint venture and are working towards setting up the company that will be headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The software-defined vehicle platform will enable Volvo Group and Daimler Truck and potential other future customers of the joint venture to provide stand-alone digital vehicle functions for their products. Mercedes-Benz improves automated parking

Mercedes-Benz has further improved the Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, one of the company’s driver assistance technologies.

With a new speed of 4 km/h, the system now parks twice as fast as before, says Mercedes.

This brings significant added value for Mercedes-Benz customers, making parking easier and a lot more comfortable in everyday situations.

May Mobility expands autonomous vehicle operations to second US city

May Mobility, an autonomous driving technology company, has launched its second driverless operation in the US, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The company says that testing its “driver-out” system in Ann Arbor is the next step toward expanding autonomous driver-out vehicle services commercially across the US and Japan alongside key partners, including Toyota, NTT and Lyft.

Nuro expands autonomous vehicles across multiple cities

Loxo establishes German subsidiary to expand its autonomous driving business

Loxo, a Swiss developer of autonomous driving solutions for logistics, has embarked on its first international expansion with the opening of a new subsidiary in Munich.

Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Bern, Switzerland, Loxo has rapidly established itself as a key player in the field of autonomous driving, with a focus on middle-mile delivery and mobile distribution hub logistics.

The expansion into Germany follows rapidly from Loxo’s successful rollout of Europe’s first Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving technology, which is operational on public roads in Bern, Switzerland, with autonomous driving routes spanning 65 kilometres (40 miles) within the city. SteerAI’s driverless car technology chosen to power Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League

SteerAI, an autonomous mobility venture backed by the Abu Dhabi Advanced Technology Research Council’s VentureOne, has partnered with the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) to provide the powerful autonomy kits to be used in the racing league’s AI-driven Super Formula cars.

A2RL used SteerAI’s kit throughout their testing campaign in Italy alongside Juju Noda, a Japanese Super Formula Driver. This weekend, A2RL will test the kit at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan in a “Man vs Machine” demo featuring former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat on November 10 as part of Suzuka’s season finale.

Lyft agrees new partnerships as it reveals it has ‘40 million’ autonomous vehicle passengers a year

Lyft, the ride-hailing app provider which claims it is now “one of North America’s largest transportation networks”, has revealed plans for new “multiple autonomous vehicle partnerships” to connect the Lyft community with future autonomous vehicle rides in the Lyft app.

Lyft says the new agreements are its next step in delivering autonomous vehicle rides to millions of people. Lyft and Mobileye, a developer of self-driving tech and advanced driver assistance systems, plan to bring autonomous vehicles to the Lyft network.

Abu Dhabi dough powering autonomous desert cars

VentureOne, the commercialization arm of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has launched SteerAI, which offers an advanced mobility system powered by AI that can “transform standard industrial vehicles into autonomous powerhouses”, according to its creators.

Catering to both the logistics and defense sectors to begin, SteerAI uses a hardware kit, software stack, and fleet management system to allow autonomous ground vehicles to tackle complex missions with high precision and efficiency, saving time and resources while protecting human workforces.
