Contec Australia has delivered what it says is “Australia’s first swimming pool structure constructed using large-scale 3D concrete printing”, demonstrating the ability to produce structural water-retaining elements directly from digital design.
The swimming pool, spa, and associated structural elements were completed using 3D concrete printing as part of a three-storey residence currently under construction. The home was designed by CAPA Studios, with pool and landscape design by Tristan Peirce Landscape Architects.
The curved pool shell, spa, and surrounding landscape structures were printed directly from the architectural and engineering models, enabling the construction of complex geometry without formwork.
Using 3D concrete printing, the ground floor walls were completed in seven days, the upper level in six days, and the pool and spa in two days. Using traditional construction methods, works of this scale and complexity would typically take several weeks and, under current Australian labour conditions, can extend to months.
Contec Australia is the only company in Western Australia using large-scale 3D concrete printing to deliver building and infrastructure works.

The project builds on Contec Australia’s previous work, including Australia’s first multi-storey 3D concrete printed home, where structural walls were completed in 18 hours of active printing and the completed home delivered within five months.
Contec Australia has delivered structural walls for additional multi-storey projects using the same technology, with a growing pipeline of works underway.
The company continues to expand its use of 3D concrete printing across a diverse range of structural and infrastructure applications.
