Researchers from Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) claim they have pioneered a graphene-based laser lift-off technique that prevents damage while separating ultrathin OLED displays.

By utilizing graphene’s ability to absorb UV light and distribute heat, they have achieved pristine, flexible displays. This advancement opens doors for ultra-thin, stretchable devices that fit comfortably against human skin, revolutionizing wearable device technology.

Wearable robotics ‘significantly boost safety and efficiency’ in industrial environments, says report

Verve Motion, a Harvard University spinout dedicated to industrial worker safety, has released the results of an extensive, multi-year study on wearable robotics in the workplace.

This landmark research quantifies critical metrics related to back and hip injuries and demonstrates substantial benefits for industrial workers using soft exosuit devices, including a significant reduction in workplace injuries and enhanced worker well-being.

The four-year study, the first of its kind, tracked ergonomics, safety, and injury metrics across more than 65 million lifts at over 40 sites in five industries: Construction, Food & Beverage, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Retail. Qualcomm and Google expand collaboration around wearable technology

Qualcomm Technologies says it is building on its long-standing collaboration with Google by bringing a RISC-V based wearables solution for use with Wear OS by Google.

This expanded framework will help reduce time to market for OEMs when launching smartwatches with advanced features like custom cores, low power, and higher performance.

Comau equips John Deere with wearable exoskeletons

Comau has equipped John Deere, the world’s largest farm machinery maker, with multiple Mate-XT wearable exoskeletons to help sustain worker well-being, alleviate physical stress and reduce the ergonomic risk within its parts logistics operations.

Mate-XT accurately replicates all movements of the shoulder, helping employees perform their jobs comfortably by reducing muscle fatigue without limiting mobility or adding bulk.

Comau and IUVO design new wearable robots to support manual work

Comau and IUVO are developing an innovative wearable robotics solution to improve the ergonomics of operators engaged in manually moving loads at Esselunga, a leading large-scale retail trade company. The aim is to improve well-being by reducing lower back fatigue.

The action of the exoskeleton will assist the back muscles that are typically stimulated during lifting and handling tasks, thus creating short- and long-term benefits through a significant reduction in physical effort and fatigue.

There are three protagonists of the project. Comau’s role is to lead the engineering process related to the new exoskeletal device for lumbar support. Roam Robotics launches ‘smart knee’, a robotic partial exoskeleton

Roam Robotics, an artificial intelligence and wearable robotics company, has launched its Ascend product, a “first-of-its-kind smart knee orthosis that helps wearers reduce knee pain and regain mobility”, according to the company.

Ascend’s technology is actively adapting, meaning it senses the body’s movement, automatically adjusts to the wearer’s needs, and provides precise support at the right moment for target muscle groups.

Comau features its exoskeleton in Pack Expo robotics showcase

Hyundai unveils wearable exoskeleton as part of a range of robotics developments

Hyundai Motor Group is developing a range of robotics technologies which the company says it will roll out over the next year or two. 

Hyundai has developed a new “Vest EXoskeleton” (VEX), a wearable robot created to assist industrial workers who spend long hours working in overhead environments.
