Tesollo unveils ‘high-performance’ humanoid robot hand

Tesollo, a South Korea-based specialist in robotic grippers, has launched its latest innovation, the Delto Gripper-5 Finger (DG-5F), further solidifying its competitive edge in the robotics market.

Set to go on sale in March, the DG-5F has already garnered significant attention at major exhibitions, including RoboWorld 2024, Korea’s largest robotics expo, and CES 2025, held this past January in the United States.

Tesollo targets US market with new ‘multi-joint robotic hand lineup’

South Korean robotic gripper specialist Tesollo says it will target the US market with its multi-joint robotic hand lineup, part of the Delto Gripper series.

The company showcased its technology at the recent CES event, the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition. The demonstrations included its humanoid robotic hand, DG-5F (Delto Gripper 5-Finger).

With a hand span of approximately 20 cm, comparable to an adult male’s hand, the DG-5F features 20 degrees of freedom (DoF), enabling it to closely mimic human hand movements. Scientists develop ‘self-powered tactile sensors for robotics and wearables’

Scientists at the Chung-Ang University in South Korea say they have developed “self-powered tactile sensors” for robotics and wearables, adding that they have also uncovered “advanced manufacturing strategies” for piezoelectric and triboelectric tactile sensors.

Piezoelectric and triboelectric tactile sensors, crucial for applications in robotics and wearable devices, face challenges in flexibility and environmental resilience.

Luxolis completes first investment program

Luxolis, a 3D vision systems startup from South Korea, has successfully completed the Korea Softlanding Program, an initiative supported by the CIC Institute Tokyo and the Seoul Business Agency (SBA).

This program was designed to foster collaboration and investment opportunities between Korean startups and Japanese enterprises.

Deep Robotics’ quadruped robots making strides in China, Singapore and South Korea

Deep Robotics has been making great strides with its quadruped robot in China, Singapore and South Korea.

In Singapore, Deep Robotics, in collaboration with its official partner EGP, is participating in the AMR SPPG Tunnel Project of the Singapore Powergrid (SPPG).

DNV and KIRIA join forces to develop the Korean robotics industry

DNV and Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA) have signed an extension to their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a program to collaborate in the area of cyber security and artificial intelligence in the field of robotics.

KIRIA, a South Korea government institution based in Daegu, Republic of Korea, and DNV, the independent assurance and risk management provider, have extended the MoU to share information and support the international development of Korea’s growing robotics industry.

The purpose of the MoU is to help the Korean robotics industry to enter the EU market through a reciprocal agreement, as well as to enable the parties to share technical and regulatory information about robots and relevant components; cooperate in technical exchange visits regarding safety standards; have the opportunity to work together on governmental projects run by the Republic of Korea and other institutions; look into developing and jointly providing advisory services, including public seminars, to the robot industry in Korea regarding safety standards; and to jointly participate in the standardization process of robots. The high level of interest in smart factory and automation technologies in South Korea is understandable – the country has the highest density of industrial robots per 1,000 workers in manufacturing of any nation on Earth.

Additionally, some of its companies are not only global operations, they are household names all over the world.

Hyundai makes South Korea’s first autonomous truck journey

Hyundai Motor Company has completed South Korea’s first domestic highway journey with an autonomously navigated semi-trailer truck.

Hyundai’s Xcient truck drove approximately 40km on the highway between Uiwang and Incheon, carrying a large semi-trailer simulating cargo transportation, showcasing Hyundai’s innovative technological advancement in future mobility.

“This successful demonstration proves that innovative autonomous driving technology can be used to transform the trade logistics industry.” Said Maik Ziegler, Ph.D., Director of Commercial Vehicle R&D Strategy Group at Hyundai Motor Company.
