MMI completes ‘world’s first’ robotic pre-clinical study in neurosurgery with Symani robotic surgical system

Medical Microinstruments, a robotics company dedicated to increasing treatment options and improving clinical outcomes for patients with complex conditions, says it has completed a preclinical study that demonstrated the feasibility of the Symani Surgical System in neurosurgical procedures.

Adnan Siddiqui, M.D., Ph.D., CEO and chief medical officer of the Jacobs Institute and Vice Chair and Professor of Neurosurgery in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, successfully repaired a blood vessel in the brain in an animal model using the Symani Surgical System, the first such robotic-assisted microsurgery demonstration in the brain.

Sumitomo and Dexterity establish joint venture in Japan

Sumitomo, one of the world’s largest trading companies, and Dexterity, an AI and robotics company, have created Dexterity-SC Japan, a new joint venture focused on accelerating the adoption of AI-powered intelligent robotic solutions for warehouse, supply chain, logistics, and other labor intensive industrial operations.

Building on a successful distribution agreement between the two companies in 2022, the newly formed Dexterity-SC Japan will sell, market, localize, and provide financing options for AI-powered robotic solutions.

Standard Bots secures $63 million in funding

Standard Bots has raised $63 million in total funding, with its recent Series B round led by General Catalyst with participation from Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund and Samsung Next.

The company has already successfully launched its RO1 robotic arm and is now preparing to bring its new AI-powered robots to market, unlocking use cases and industries untouched by traditional robotics, such as complex assembly, food preparation, or dishwashing.

Serve Robotics expanded delivery service in Los Angeles

Serve Robotics, an autonomous delivery robotics company, has expanded its delivery operations into Koreatown as part of a long-term plan to broaden its geographic reach in Los Angeles and across the US.

Additionally, in preparation for the scale up of its fleet for future expansions, Serve announced the expansion of its lidar supply agreement with Ouster to equip its next-generation robots with upgraded sensors for enhanced performance.
