Celera Motion unveils ‘world’s smallest’ servo drives

January 31, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Celera Motion, a business unit of Novanta, has launched what it says are “the world’s smallest servo drives”.

Named the Denali Series, the new compact, ultra-fast servo drives are perfect for a variety of service robots, surgical robots, industrial grippers and lab automation applications.

Denali is the latest addition to Celera Motion’s line of premium-performance Ingenia servo drives. [Read more…] about Celera Motion unveils ‘world’s smallest’ servo drives

How Do Force Sensors Work? And What Are Their Benefits?

April 22, 2020 by Polly

There are several laws of physics that are based on force. One of these is the well-known principle that when applied to any object of mass, force changes the velocity of the object.

There are other concepts related to force including torque, thrust, and drag – thrust increases the object’s velocity, while drag reduces velocity, and torque generates changes in the object’s rotational speed.

When there’s a balanced distribution of forces in the object, there is acceleration. If you want to monitor the force on an object, you need a device called a force sensor. [Read more…] about How Do Force Sensors Work? And What Are Their Benefits?

Bimba launches multi-axis electric linear robot actuator

August 28, 2017 by David Edwards

Bimba, a supplier of pneumatic, hydraulic and electric motion solutions, has introduced IntelliAxis multi-axis electric linear robot actuators for either X-Z or X-Y motion applications.

Employing what the company says is “a one-of-a-kind two-axis system”, the unit features a single continuous belt that serpentines around the two axes eliminating the need for a motor in the Z- or Y-axis while driving a pair of coordinated motors in the X-axis.

These configurations, known as T-bot and H-bot within the industry, permit synchronized control for complex motion movement profiles such as circles, ellipses and sine waves.  [Read more…] about Bimba launches multi-axis electric linear robot actuator
