Industrial robotic components manufacturer Heidenhain has opened a new office on the West Coast of the US to provide “specialized motion systems” with ETEL, a company which specialises in motion control solutions.

As the Silicon Valley in California and the West Coast continue to be the hub of the semiconductor manufacturing in the US, Heidenhain has expanded its motion systems support by establishing an ETEL facility in Fremont, CA.

This new 2018 office will provide product, service and support of its ETEL motion systems designed specifically for that industry and others.  [Read more…] about Heidenhain opens new office on US West Coast

Heidenhain to show off machine connection capability at IMTS

May 14, 2018 by Anna

Heidenhain will use its control systems to connect equipment from many machine tool builders at the September IMTS exhibition in Chicago back to its own booth. The list of connected manufacturers is to be announced closer to show time.

“Connecting Systems for Intelligent Production” has been Heidenhain’s motto at many trade shows over the past year as the manufacturing trend of digitization and networking have become the goal for many in order to increase competitiveness.

To this end, Heidenhain offers Connected Machining, a package of components and systems to support end users introducing digital order management in their production processes.

TI collaborates with Heidenhain on first industrial drive control system-on-chip

April 11, 2018 by Anna

Texas Instruments (TI), with help from Heidenhain, has developed a microcontroller (MCU) for the semiconductor industry—the C2000TM MCU.

The C2000 offers the Heidenhain EnDat 2.2 interface as an option and delivers a complete solution with a direct connection for industrial motor and servo drives, supporting both analog and digital position sensors.

When combined with TI’s DesignDRIVE Position Manager, this new solution eliminates the complexities of position sensor management in the industrial drive development cycle, saving ancillary components, development time and system cost.

Heidenhain acquires Austrian encoder company AMO

January 19, 2018 by Anna

Heidenhain has recently acquired AMO, an Austrian specialty encoder company and moved AMO North America sales operations and products coordination to Heidenhain in the US. Encoder production and engineering will remain in Austria.

AMO is well known for meeting the precision feedback requirements in applications where high resolution is needed, particularly in highly contaminated machine environments, such as in automation, medical and semiconductor applications, as well as some metal forming, bending, and manual machine tool applications.

AMO encoders are inductive based, and can survive many types of rough environments including coolants, slurries, heavy dust particles, high vibration and still maintain accuracy and high resolution.
