Teleo raises $16.2 million in Series A extension

Teleo, a company building autonomous technology for heavy equipment, has raised $16.2 million in Series A extension funds in addition to the company’s previously announced Series A funding round.

The company will primarily use the funds to scale customer deployments and continue its expansion in new industries that use heavy machinery, such as wheel loaders, terminal tractors, excavators, and more.

Teleo will also use the funds to enhance its AI capabilities, including advancing autonomous features; integrating large language models (LLMs) to further unlock operator efficiency; and collecting real-world data to continue training AI models.

ZenRobotics launches new waste recycling robots

ZenRobotics, a specialist in robotic recycling, has launched ZenRobotics 4.0, its fourth generation of waste sorting robots.

The company says the latest robots have new features and upgraded Artificial Intelligence to optimise and improve the efficiency of waste sorting operations.

Companies set stage for a “safer, more sustainable future” with the first retrofitted autonomous, zero-emission haul truck

SafeAI, a developer of autonomous heavy equipment, and Obayashi, one of Japan’s largest construction companies, have unveiled a “first-of-its-kind” retrofit zero-emission, autonomous haul truck.

The Caterpillar 725 is the first haul truck retrofitted with autonomous and electrification technology. This is a breakthrough in heavy industry that paves the way for companies to reuse their existing assets while improving operations and enabling them to reach their sustainability goals.

Teleo launches autonomous technology for heavy construction equipment, reports orders for 42 machines already

Teleo, a company building autonomous technology for heavy construction equipment, says Florida-based Tomahawk Construction will become the first customer to deploy its autonomous capabilities on an active job site.

Tomahawk Construction’s articulated dump trucks will be able to use autonomous functions to move material to build a residential community in Naples, FL starting in December.

In addition, Teleo announced deals with eight new construction customers, including Florida-based Ajax Paving Industries of FL. Collectively, Teleo’s new customers have placed orders for 42 machines. Omron launches new ‘high-performance’ collaborative robot for heavy payloads

Omron, a provider of industrial automation solutions, has launched its new Omron TM20 collaborative robot with a payload of 20 kg.

The new cobot is ideal for tasks such as palletizing, machine tending and material handling. Whilst managing heavy payloads, the Omron TM20 has a small footprint and a reach of 1,3 meters.

SafeAI raises $38 million funding to develop autonomous heavy equipment

SafeAI, a developer of autonomous solutions for heavy equipment, has raised $38 million in its Series B round of funding with key investors including Builders VC, McKinley Management, George Kaiser Family Foundation, and Energy Innovation Capital.

Additionally, Moog Inc joined the round as a strategic investor. SafeAI retrofits construction and mining vehicles with aftermarket hardware and proprietary autonomy software that delivers significant gains in increased worksite productivity, safety and cost savings.

Pony.ai and SANY to mass produce autonomous trucks

Pony.ai, an autonomous driving technology company, has formed a strategic joint venture with SANY Heavy Truck, a subsidiary of SANY Heavy Industry, a Chinese heavy equipment manufacturer and the third largest heavy equipment manufacturer globally.

Pony.ai and SANY say they will collaborate to create a “world-leading autonomous truck brand”.

The two companies say they will “deeply integrate” Pony.ai’s “virtual driver” with SANY’s technical accumulation in the field of wire-controlled chassis and vehicle development to jointly develop high-end heavy trucks that are automotive-grade and have L4-class redundancies. These trucks will inaugurate the future of truck logistics transportation.

The joint venture plans to start small-scale deliveries of the robotrucks in 2022 and 2023. Mass production of the L4 truck will commence in 2024 and within a few years will reach an annual production of around 10,000 trucks. [Read more…] about Pony.ai and SANY to mass produce autonomous trucks
