Medical Microinstruments introduces even smaller robotic instruments for complex ‘supermicrosurgery’

October 9, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Medical Microinstruments, a robotics company developing devices for microsurgery, has launched its new Supermicro NanoWrist instruments for use with the Symani Surgical System, developed specifically to address the challenges of microsurgery.

The new supermicro needle holder and dilator were recently used in clinical procedures in Zürich, Florence, and Salzburg, with successful patient outcomes.

Simon Enzinger, MD, DDS, surgeon at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital Salzburg, used the new instruments on a procedure called a partial glossectomy, where he raised a lateral arm free flap to replace a large section of a patient’s tongue which required removal due to cancer. How to 3D Print Custom Inline Skates

April 24, 2022 by David Edwards

3D printing is also referred to as additive manufacturing. It is the process of creating 3 dimensional (3D) objects that are solid.

The solid objects are printed from a digital file by way of additive processes where thin layers of material are added in succession.

Many objects can be printed, including 3 wheel inline skates. The following instructions will explain how to do so. [Read more…] about How to 3D Print Custom Inline Skates

Piab adds new size to its ‘bellows’ end-effector range

May 19, 2021 by David Edwards

Piab has further broadened its already extensive range of what are called “end-effectors” – basically the “hands” for robotic arms.

Piab has extended its line of bellows flat friction suction cups to include a cup measuring 80 mm in diameter.

With this 80 mm cup, the company says it will fill the gap in its “highly competitive” range of DuraFlex friction cups. The new size BFFT80P-2 is available with 10 standard friction suction cup fittings. [Read more…] about Piab adds new size to its ‘bellows’ end-effector range

Mazak launches new laser processing machine for small and medium diameter tube

June 25, 2020 by David Edwards

Yamazaki Mazak is launching a new high-productivity laser processing machine specifically designed for the high-speed, large lot cutting of small and medium diameter tube.

The new FT-150 FIBER is a compact laser processing machine that benefits from an ergonomic design, with the operator area, loading station and unloading station all located on the same side.

Equipped with a 3.0kW fiber resonator, the FT-150 FIBER can process single workpieces up to 6,500mm in length and 150kg in weight, with a maximum tube diameter of 152.4mm. 8,000mm and 180kg options are also available.
