ABB launches AppStudio no-code tool for robot interface programming

ABB has launched AppStudio, which the company describes as an intuitive no-code software tool designed to empower users of all experience levels to quickly and easily create customized robotic user interfaces.

With intuitive functionality and features including a collaborative cloud-based library enabling users to share application templates, AppStudio will reduce setup times by up to 80 percent.

ABB Robotics selects T-Robotics and Mbodi as AI startup winners

ABB Robotics has selected T-Robotics and Mbodi as the winners of its 2024 ABB Robotics AI Startup Challenge, marking what the industrial giant says is “a significant milestone” in advancing artificial intelligence solutions for industrial robotics.

ABB completes second investment in edge-to-cloud solution provider Pratexo

ABB has completed a second strategic investment in US-based technology company Pratexo, an edge-to-cloud software and energy solutions provider.

The deepening collaboration between both organizations comes as companies continue to shift from centralized cloud to edge computing and hybrid edge-to-cloud solutions for better operational technology management.

B&R introduces new coding environment with cloud collaboration and AI assistant

Industrial automation specialist, B&R, part of the ABB Group, has released a “major update” to its suite of engineering and runtime software.

The company showcased the upgrade at this year’s SPS exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany.

With Automation Studio Code, B&R says it has introduced an entirely new engineering experience. ABB opens new $100 million campus in Wisconsin

ABB has started the phased opening of a new $100 million campus in New Berlin, Wisconsin to increase US production capacity of industrial electric drives and service to fully meet Build America Buy America Act (BABAA) requirements.

ABB employees, elected officials, education leaders, and media gathered for a ribbon cutting event to mark the first phase opening of the campus.

ABB launches new paint atomizer for efficient and sustainable paint shops

ABB has launched the RB 1000i-S paint atomizer to revolutionize automotive paint shops. The new paint atomizer mounted on top of the ABB robot improves transfer efficiency by upwards of 10 percent, and can significantly reduce paint waste by a minimum of 30 percent along with carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, compared to its predecessor, the RB 1000i.

In addition, major efficiency and cost saving benefits have the potential to deliver significant financial savings.

ABB Robotics and US start-up Molg tackle data center e-waste with robotic micro-factories

ABB Robotics is collaborating with US start-up Molg to create robotic micro-factories to recover and recycle data center operators’ disused electronic equipment, commonly known as e-waste.

With global e-waste projected to rise to 75 million tons by 2030, the micro-factories will play a vital role in reducing the electronic waste, helping the data center sector operate more efficiently and sustainably.

ABB Robotics’ new energy efficiency service cuts power usage by ‘30 percent’

ABB Robotics has launched an “Energy Efficiency Service” providing manufacturers with a package of consultation, analysis and tools to increase the energy efficiency of their robots.

The service offers up to 30 percent energy savings, addressing the high energy costs that hinder the competitiveness of 58 percent of surveyed global manufacturers, according to a recent Energy Efficiency Movement report.

Michael Hose, managing director ABB Robotics customer service business line, says: “Reducing energy consumption is a priority for manufacturers, with over 93 percent surveyed stating they will invest in energy efficiency improvements in the next three years to reduce costs and demonstrate progress towards more sustainable operations. ABB launches ‘groundbreaking ultra accuracy’ feature for GoFa collaborative robots

ABB Robotics has launched “Ultra Accuracy”, which it describes as a new industry-leading feature for its GoFa collaborative robot range.

The industrial giant says that Ultra Accuracy delivers “the highest level of precision available in cobots, enabling over 10 times greater path accuracy compared with other cobots on the market”.

Andrea Cassoni, global head of collaborative robots for ABB Robotics, says: “As industries look to automation to enhance product quality and achieve tighter tolerances – continuously decreasing the maximum allowable deviation from the standard in quality control – there is a growing need for robots that can perform tasks with exceptional precision.

ABB demonstrates robot charging solution for mining trucks

ABB is currently at MINExpo 2024 to showcase a new technology demonstrator developed to enable safe and efficient, high-power charging in the journey towards the all-electric mine of the future.
