Zebra Technologies increases productivity with ‘30 percent fewer robots’
Zebra Technologies, a supply chain workflow specialist, has expanded its Zebra Symmetry Fulfillment, a “comprehensive solution” that utilizes the company’s new Zebra Connect Fulfillment autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), wearable technologies, software, and analytics designed to increase productivity and reduce costs in warehouse operations.
This AI-powered solution combines the functions of a warehouse execution system (WES) with robot fleet management and powerful analytics.
Using the new Zebra Symmetry Connect Fulfillment AMR, the solution enables frontline workers to load and unload orders to and from carts without requiring the AMR to remain permanently attached to each cart. FedEx opens new automated sorting facility at Memphis World Hub
FedEx has unveiled a new, state-of-the-art, automated sorting facility at the Memphis World Hub.
The LEED Certified building, which is now fully operational ahead of the holiday peak season, spans 1.3 million square feet across four levels, includes 11 miles of conveyor belt, has a space dedicated to moving bulky, non-conveyable shipments, and can sort 56,000 packages per hour.

E-commerce giant Otto Group brings in Boston Dynamics robot to help fulfill orders
The Otto Group, one of the world’s largest e-commerce retailers, has signed a strategic agreement with Boston Dynamics, a provider of mobile robotics, to continue automating its logistics operations.
The plan is to deploy Boston Dynamics’ Spot robots in more than 10 and Stretch robots in more than 20 of the group’s facilities over the next two years, beginning with Hermes Fulfilment.
The deployment supports Otto Group’s efforts to improve safety, increase operational efficiency and address labor shortages for specific types of warehouse work and the agreement marks the first time both of Boston Dynamics’ commercially available robots will be deployed together at enterprise scale. Sabarot says it has ‘doubled throughput’ of its AS/RS
Sabarot, a French family business specialising in dried legumes, cereals and wild mushrooms, says it has “doubled the throughput” of its Mecalux automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) to boost its operational capacity.
Sabarot achieved the milestone at its historic centre in Chaspuzac, France. The company says it is noe “forging ahead with expansion and further enhancing its logistics capabilities” with the assistance of Mecalux, a warehouse automation specialist.
