John Deere customers use autonomous ‘See & Spray’ technology across 5 million acres in 2025

November 5, 2025 by Sam Francis

Farm equipment giant John Deere says its “See & Spray” technology, which is a key part of the company’s autonomous offering, was used across “more than 5 million acres of farmland during the 2025 growing season” – a land area larger than the state of New Jersey.

In 2025, John Deere says its customers “reduced non-residual herbicide use by an average of nearly 50 percent – saving nearly 31 million gallons of herbicide mix – demonstrating the power of targeted application, even in a season marked by elevated weed pressure and frequent rains”.

Joshua Ladd, marketing manager for application at John Deere, says: “See & Spray continues to redefine what’s possible in crop protection. [Read more…] about John Deere customers use autonomous ‘See & Spray’ technology across 5 million acres in 2025

Bonsai Robotics unveils new robot for agricultural jobs

October 23, 2025 by Sam Francis

Bonsai Robotics has introduced a new lineup of autonomous agricultural vehicles under its Amiga brand, marking the company’s first major product expansion since acquiring a company called “farm-ng” (sic) in July.

The company debuted the Amiga Flex, described as the first vehicle fully integrated with the company’s “Bonsai Intelligence” software stack. Two additional models – the Amiga Trax and Amiga Max – round out the new range, which aims to automate a variety of labor-intensive field operations.

Each system uses Bonsai’s vision-based autonomy platform to navigate complex farm environments without GPS. [Read more…] about Bonsai Robotics unveils new robot for agricultural jobs

Burro expands autonomous robot fleet at Petitti Family Farms

October 8, 2025 by David Edwards

Burro, a provider of autonomous robots for work outdoors, has announced a material expansion of their autonomous robot fleet with Petitti Family Farms in Lake County, Ohio.

This expansion is the largest of its kind, running autonomous mobile robots outdoors, year-round in the challenging conditions of northern Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie.

Petitti Family Farms is expanding their fleet of Burro Grande robots from 10 that were deployed earlier this year to 25 by the end of the year. [Read more…] about Burro expands autonomous robot fleet at Petitti Family Farms

SwarmFarm Robotics raises $30 million to scale farm-bot fleet and expand into North America

October 2, 2025 by David Edwards

Australian agtech company SwarmFarm Robotics has secured $30 million in Series B funding to accelerate the rollout of its autonomous “SwarmBots” and expand operations into North America, according to Business News Australia.

The round was led by European investor Edaphon, with participation from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), QIC and Artesian Capital. The CEFC contributed $7 million through its Powering Australia Technology Fund.

Founded by farmers Andrew and Jocie Bate, SwarmFarm develops lightweight, self-driving robots designed to reduce machinery costs and environmental impacts. Rather than competing in the race for ever-larger tractors and harvesters, the company builds small, simple autonomous machines that can operate together in fleets. Kubota unveils autonomous hydrogen fuel cell tractor

September 26, 2025 by Sam Francis

Kubota has unveiled a concept model of an autonomous hydrogen fuel cell tractor, marking what the company describes as the world’s first public showing of such a machine.

The tractor was exhibited at the “Hydrogen Energy Park” event during the recent Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.

The concept combines two major trends in agriculture: decarbonization and automation. The tractor is powered by compressed hydrogen through a solid polymer fuel cell system, producing only water as a by-product. [Read more…] about Kubota unveils autonomous hydrogen fuel cell tractor
