The demand-driven adaptive enterprise model and flow-based operating model

May 21, 2018 by Sam Francis

ddi Workshop-Carol-Ptak small

By Chad Smith and Carol Ptak, co-founders of the Demand Driven Institute

The demand driven adaptive enterprise (DDAE) model is a complete management model designed to enable enterprises to sense market changes and adapt to complex and volatile environments.

This model utilizes a constant system of innovation and feedback between three primary components: a demand driven operating model (DDOM), demand driven sales & operations planning (DDS&OP), and adaptive sales and operations planning (adaptive S&OP).

A demand driven adaptive enterprise focuses on the protection and promotion of the flow of relevant information and materials across the operational, tactical, and relevant ranges to drive sustained return on equity performance.  [Read more…] about The demand-driven adaptive enterprise model and flow-based operating model

Adeunis and ARC Informatique partner to create new building management system solution with LoRaWAN at its heart

May 21, 2018 by Sam Francis

PcVue solutions

Two recognized players in IoT technologies are integrating their solutions to achieve IoT equipment integration with an existing building management system (BMS) using LoRaWAN technology at the heart.

The Grenoble Alpes University Hospital’s technical teams wanted to be able to instrument and control various equipment quickly, inexpensively and without cabling (Ethernet and power).

The Grenoble Hospital asked Adeunis and ARC Informatique the question of how to best solve this operational challenge.  [Read more…] about Adeunis and ARC Informatique partner to create new building management system solution with LoRaWAN at its heart

Kollmorgen Breyer Tube Blanks small

By Thomas Sautter, Kollmorgen

In the beginning, there is the pipe – and, at the Breyer machine factory, it comes endlessly out of the extruder.

If the singular for pipe in Latin is tubus, it is very easy to see why the technological origins of a tube are in a pipe.

Breyer is said to be one of the world market leaders in sophisticated extrusion systems.  [Read more…] about Kollmorgen launches new generation of Topline drives

Lattice Semiconductor launches ‘complete hardware stack’

May 21, 2018 by Sam Francis

lattice semiconductor sensai

Lattice Semiconductor has launched something called Lattice sensAI, which it describes as “a complete technology stack” combining modular hardware kits, neural network IP cores, software tools, reference designs and custom design services.

The company says the purpose is to accelerate the integration of machine learning inferencing into broad market IoT applications.

With solutions optimized for ultra-low power consumption (under 1 mW–1 W), small package size (5.5 mm2 –100 mm2), interface flexibility (MIPI CSI-2, LVDS, GigE, and so on), and high-volume pricing (~$1-$10 USD), Lattice sensAI stack fast-tracks implementation of edge computing close to the source of data.  [Read more…] about Lattice Semiconductor launches ‘complete hardware stack’

Home Depot Trailer Rental Services small

If you are an avid DIY builder or simply want to build your own house or perform major renovation works, you are probably already aware about the importance of transportation.

If you are working on a huge project that requires large-scale materials and tools, you will need something to carry them from one place to the other safely, without hurting the workers and damaging the items.

Obviously, moving the materials and tools with your personal car is not the wisest idea so that you will need specialized vehicles designed for this exact purpose, namely utility trailers.  [Read more…] about What you should know about Home Depot trailer rental services

Robots are useless at these tasks that humans are good at

May 18, 2018 by Sam Francis

robots-replace-humans

Some people say robots will put millions of people out of work and even enslave and kill us all, but that’s a little bit hysterical really.

What looks realistic is that robots will continue to make working life easier and more manageable for humans.

Yes, of course, some jobs may disappear for humans because robots will do them, but hopefully, they will mostly be the dull, dirty and dangerous jobs humans would generally rather not do anyway.  [Read more…] about Robots are useless at these tasks that humans are good at
