Scallog installs 60 robots and eight picking stations for Decathlon warehouses in Germany

Scallog, short for “scalable logistics”, has completed two installations in Germany for its client Decathlon, one of the world’s largest retailers of sports goods. 

The installation includes a site with a fleet of 60 robots and eight preparation or picking stations on the Mannheim site.

GM launches e-bike range

GM has announced the name of its new ebike brand, ARĪV. The brand includes two ebikes: the Meld, a compact eBike, and the Merge, a folding ebike.

The name ARĪV was selected as part of a global crowdsourcing campaign announced in November 2018.

ARĪV eBikes are launching first in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, due to the popularity of lithium-ion battery-powered eBikes in those markets. ARĪV ebikes are scheduled to begin to be shipped to customers in Q2 of 2019.

Tompkins Robotics adds new product to parcel sortation suite

Tompkins Robotics has launched t-Sort Plus, a new product offering in the t-Sort unit and parcel sortation system suite.

The t-Sort system is a robotic material handling system and has applications for both unit and parcel sortation.

Intel shows collaborative mini-bots at ISSCC 2019

Intel presented a series of innovations in integrated circuits and systems-on-chip at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), the leading forum on advanced circuit research, in San Francisco in February.

Intel presented 17 scientific papers and accompanying demonstrations that could have an impact on a wide range of applications for the future of technology – including developments in 5G and memory.

It presented a research paper, Distributed Autonomous and Collaborative Multi-Robot System Featuring a Low-Power Robot SoC in 22nm CMOS for Integrated Battery-Powered Minibots.

B&R offers new possibilities with digital twins

B&R Automation claims to have simplified model-based machine development with its new B&R MapleSim Connector, claiming it considerably reduces the time spent modelling machine components, with machine functions being easy to program and deploy.

B&R MapleSim Connector is integrated in the B&R Automation Studio environment and makes it efficient for B&R customers to integrate the MapleSim tool from Maplesoft.

MapleSim creates a highly accurate, dynamic model of the machine based on CAD data in STEP format. All forces and torques are modelled with great precision, allowing the model to be used as a digital twin for component sizing.
