Productive Robotics says its welding cobot can work with existing equipment at ‘half the cost’ of competing solutions

May 18, 2023 by David Edwards

Productive Robotics says its new Blaze Welding Cobot can be used with a customer’s existing table, fixtures and welder at “half the cost of other systems on the market”.

Unlike 6-axis robots, the 7-axis Blaze Welding Cobot can maneuver around all sides of large or complex parts and fixtures, allowing it to perform more weldments in a single setup.

Blaze is engineered with Productive Robotics’ proprietary teach-by-touch and equipped to accommodate high or low mix volumes, short or long part runs or jobs that require quick changeovers. Tormach robots help ‘triple’ welding efficiency of concrete company

April 20, 2023 by Mark Allinson

The opportunity to automate a simple pair of tack welds on mild steel components was all it took to lead Advance Concrete Form of Madison, Wisconsin, on the path to robotic automation.

But given the unqualified success of this application, the company is keen to find new ways to automate at its busy headquarters.

In fact, Plant Manager Adam Wepfer is on the lookout daily for new ways to add efficiency to Advance Concrete’s daily operations at its primary facility. And the company’s Tormach ZA6 industrial robot has been a star performer in freeing the company’s skilled welders to perform more complex tasks. Acieta unveils new collaborative robotic system for welding

August 11, 2022 by David Edwards

Acieta has unveiled a new collaborative robotic system for welding. The company says the new “FastARC” cobot can pay back customers’ investment “in as little as six months”.

Acieta says that “everyone is struggling to hire and retain good laborers, especially those with welding skills”. But when the position is unfilled, a welding system sits idle and doesn’t make a profit.

Companies simply cannot afford to wait for the next skilled welder to walk through the door. The labor pool is dwindling and there’s fierce competition to attract those individuals. [Read more…] about Acieta unveils new collaborative robotic system for welding

Using robots to address the welder shortage

May 24, 2021 by David Edwards

Automated welding solutions are used across a range of industries, most commonly observed in the automotive industry where arc welding has been automated since the 1960s as a reliable method of manufacturing that increases accuracy, safety and efficiency.

The primary driver of automated welding solutions has always been a desire for reduced long term costs, increased reliability and productivity.

However, now there is a new driving force as robots are being used as a way of addressing the skills gap in the welding industry. More experienced welders are retiring in large numbers and there aren’t enough certified welders being trained to replace them. [Read more…] about Using robots to address the welder shortage

Path Robotics raises $56 million to ‘lead American manufacturing into the future’

May 3, 2021 by Sam Francis

Path Robotics, the Columbus, Ohio-based artificial intelligence and robotics company responsible for designing “the world’s first truly autonomous robotic welding system”, has received $56 million dollars in Series B funding, bringing the total invested in the company to $71 million.

Investment company Addition led the round and was joined by returning investors Drive Capital, Basis Set, and Lemnos Lab.

Lee Fixel of Addition says: “Path Robotics is solving a complex and critical problem in our country by bridging the gap between the supply of skilled welders and demand. [Read more…] about Path Robotics raises $56 million to ‘lead American manufacturing into the future’

Hirebotics’ new ‘Cobot Welder’ can be used through smartphone app

May 3, 2021 by David Edwards

Hirebotics says its Cobot Welder system delivers advanced robot welding through an “easy-to-use” smartphone application.

The company says that the robotic welding system, powered by Beacon, is a complete, user-friendly collaborative robot welding system that enables “painless automated welding deployments”.

Rob Goldiez, co-founder and CEO, Hirebotics, says: “The Cobot Welder is a major leap forward in easy-to-use welding automation that combines industrial grade robot welding functionality with consumer level ease-of-use and a phenomenal price point.” [Read more…] about Hirebotics’ new ‘Cobot Welder’ can be used through smartphone app

Hirebotics develops new robotic welding system

August 26, 2019 by David Edwards

Hirebotics has developed a new robotic welding system using Universal Robots machines.

The new for-hire BotX Welder – developed by Hirebotics and utilizing Universal Robots’ UR10e collaborative robot arm – lets manufacturers automate arc welding with no capital investment, handling even small batch runs not feasible for traditional automation.

Nowhere in manufacturing is the shortage of labor felt as urgently as in the welding sector, which is now facing an acute shortage of welders nationwide. [Read more…] about Hirebotics develops new robotic welding system

Collaborative robots working with human welders in manufacturing, says Novarc

August 21, 2019 by David Edwards

Collaborative robots are working with human welders in manufacturing, according to Canada-based robotics company Novarc Technologies, a company which has built a robot specifically for pipe welding.

Welding is one of the biggest applications for robots, particularly in the automotive industry.

According to the International Federation of Robotics, approximately half of all robotic arms sold in the US are bought by the automotive manufacturing sector, and around one-third of those robots are used for welding.
