Pittsburgh Robotics Network provides platform for showcasing robotics technology

Pittsburgh Robotics Network (PRN) hosted its Pittsburgh Robotics Discovery Day on November 20, 2024, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

The free and open event showcased cutting-edge robotics, advanced automation, and next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that drive innovation across multiple industries. 

The event featured more than 130 exhibitors with live demonstrations of innovative technology, four themed zones (Robotics, Career Pathways, Community, and Manufacturing) for attendees to learn, network, and explore. Teleo raises $16.2 million in Series A extension

Teleo, a company building autonomous technology for heavy equipment, has raised $16.2 million in Series A extension funds in addition to the company’s previously announced Series A funding round.

The company will primarily use the funds to scale customer deployments and continue its expansion in new industries that use heavy machinery, such as wheel loaders, terminal tractors, excavators, and more.

Teleo will also use the funds to enhance its AI capabilities, including advancing autonomous features; integrating large language models (LLMs) to further unlock operator efficiency; and collecting real-world data to continue training AI models.

May Mobility expands autonomous vehicle operations to second US city

May Mobility, an autonomous driving technology company, has launched its second driverless operation in the US, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The company says that testing its “driver-out” system in Ann Arbor is the next step toward expanding autonomous driver-out vehicle services commercially across the US and Japan alongside key partners, including Toyota, NTT and Lyft.

C-Hawk Technology launches robotic plastic welding platform for semiconductor equipment manufacturing

C-Hawk Technology, a maker of manufacturing of components, assemblies and processes for the semiconductor and healthcare industries, has unveiled its new patent-pending “Roberto” platform.

The company describes the platform as “an integrated robotics system that automates plastic welding and sets new benchmarks for quality, precision, scalability and safety in manufacturing for plastic welded assemblies and subassemblies”.

Early performance data shows that Roberto outperforms manual welding with a 25 percent increase in production speed and product consistency, a 30 percent improvement in output efficiency and a 50 percent decrease in error rates. Delta Electronics unveils new collaborative robot integrating Nvidia simulation technology

Delta Electronics, a Taiwanese provider of robotics and power management solutions, has unveiled what it describes as “a major advancement” in robotics simulation.

Its flagship product, the D-Bot Series Collaborative Robots (cobots), now integrates with Nvidia Omniverse – a platform of application programming interfaces (APIs), software development kits, and services that enable developers to harness Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) for physical AI – and Nvidia Isaac Sim, a reference simulation platform built on Omniverse for designing and testing robots.

Scientists build drone to follow and film bees

A team at the University of Freiburg has built a drone capable of following and filming bees over a distance of more than 100 metres.

The data is intended to provide information about the behaviour of insects in their national surroundings. The researchers developed a new tracking technology for this purpose.
