ARE installs batteries in demolition robots for cable-free movement

July 3, 2024 by David Edwards

Briggs & Stratton, an American multinational which produces engines, says it is breaking new ground in the robotics field, as it works with Advanced Robotic Engineering (ARE) to power their range of mobile industrial demolition robots with the Vanguard 48V Si1.5kWh swappable and 48V Fi3.5kWh fixed battery packs. Vanguard is part of the Briggs & Stratton group.

For many years, onsite workers have struggled with needing their demolition machines to be cable powered when moving from one site to another. While one operator controlled the machine, another assisted on navigating the cable.

As a consequence, moving machines was not only complicated and time consuming, but also required the involvement of several people at the job site. A disaster in an industry where uptime is everything and the reduction of total cost of ownership crucial. [Read more…] about ARE installs batteries in demolition robots for cable-free movement

Carpentry 4.0: When robots and saws take over the night shift

July 3, 2024 by David Edwards

Autonomous and without statutory break times, robots can offer real value to carpentry workshops and boost production. However, acquiring such machines is often associated with high costs. Used machines might offer a viable solution.

Carpentry has been a traditional craft for centuries. Yet, this trade is not exempt from digitalisation and automation through the use of robots.

The development of digitalisation in woodworking began in the mid-1970s with the introduction of the first CNC and electronically controlled machines. By the late 1990s, the first high-performance assembly lines with robotic loading had hit the market. [Read more…] about Carpentry 4.0: When robots and saws take over the night shift

Renault brings in 191 Exotec robots to fully automate vehicle parts facility

June 19, 2024 by David Edwards

Renault Group has unveiled its “new-generation” logistics facility in Villeroy, which is “100 percent automated” and equipped with the system from Exotec, a French industrial robotics company.

Renault says the all-French collaboration is a world first for a car manufacturer.

Skypod robots facilitate the work of operators by picking items at height, thereby eliminating the risk of falling. The time it takes to prepare parts orders is thus divided by 6 and the surface of the storage area on the site is reduced.
